Eskom has another big problem

As power utility Eskom struggles with high debt, and frequent breakdowns leading to increasing load shedding, it now also has to contend with organised crime syndicates among its ranks.
Now? Really? Only now?

F***ing ridiculous. We've all known this for ages

This is not a new problem, and its a significant part of why we're in this clusterfsck now.

Bar is low for journalists these days. Just yesterday I was pissed off after reading 2 articles on different sites where both had no idea that loadshedding stage does not hours off make.

Unbelievable that after all these years journalists do not know this. Even more so that they aren't fact-checked and can this litter nonsense under headlines for our ignorant masses to see.

I'm not sure I trust this government with the death penalty, but I do agree that anybody found sabotaging key infrastructure like this should face the harshest penalty our legal system has to offer.
Thing is, these syndicates rule by violence and terror and are not afraid to enforce that with murder etc. It needs a harsh hand to deal with it, sure if folks surrender or give up, they can be tried and charged but the violent acts and intimidation needs to be met with overwhelming force.

Imagine if they had just organised a bit and waited till one week before the elections. And then hammer the stations to make sure there is stage 8 load shedding during elections. Maybe, just maybe, the people who turn up to vote will think twice about putting a pack of terrorists on in charge of the country.

Which is a golf course.

So, they know there are syndicates? What have they done? Laid charges against two? So the police have laid charges against criminals instead of simply arresting them? What of the "work" the syndicates are doing? Carry on as normal? If what it takes is forensic audit of every contract then make it so. I remember they stopped lifestyle audits a while back because they ran out of money. You would think stamping out corruption would save them billions.

A Major milestone achieved in failed country status.
