Eskom load shedding takes down Internet Solutions data centre

We decided back in May 2010 to go with Teraco. They charge a lot, but there is a big focus on the power supply. It's probably in the next few months that that decision will really be tested.

Lol, Nice cover up IS... Internal Sources say otherwise

What a day from HELL because of this! Don't blame Eskom for your generators not working.

Surely after this fiasco they will have redundant measures in place, i.e. another genset?

Eskom costing our economy bigtime :(

Surely that couldn't happen ?

Vodacom had a similar issue, where datacenter staff had the fuel inlet pipe to the generators turned off. This was years ago and happened 3 times within two weeks.

At another hosting company, cleaning staff managed to get past DC security and were busy waxing the DC floors with those floor waxing machines. All sorts of crap happens in DCs and sometimes you just don't want you know.

Or that other hosting company which had a fire in the ups room and is now rebuilding their power infrastructure as it was designed so "brilliantly" that both redundant UPSs were placed in the same room. Make rework there.

Let me guess… Stage one load shedding allows for up to 1000 servers to be cut, stage two for up to 2000, and stage three for up to 4000…
