Eskom load-shedding surprise

Eskom’s latest performance data shows it has achieved what many people said was impossible: improving its reliability and suspending load-shedding.

When former Eskom CEO André de Ruyter left the power utility in February 2023, load-shedding had become a daily occurrence where only the stage was unknown.

On Friday, 28 Jule 2024, Eskom announced that it had suspended load-shedding for 93 days. It is the longest period since October 2021.

He added that the load-shedding reprieve was down to burning diesel. “If the lights are on, well done. However, they are on because we are pouring money into diesel at a rate of knots.”

That incompetent and useless nincompoop was a good-for-nothing idiot that didn't know what he was doing. To thikk that he had supporters who supported him for other reason than his skills.

What a waste of money on that one.
 
They are still burning the turbines.
But this is what happens when you don't give in to the greenies. Stable baseload is the way.

This govt keeps trying to blame De Ruyter. It doesn't was with me. He ensured the co-ordinated maintenance program was put in place, started removing corrupt ESCOM official and catching coal thieves. Also got the long overdue power station sped up their commissioning and ensured the process was put in place to re commission the sabotaged Kusile units back on track. The crooks then tried to poison him.
The current management of ESCOM back to capacity is for 2 reasons only.
De Ruyters programmes taking effect, which current management are happy to accept the kudos for, despite it not being meant for them.
AND
The fact that demand has dropped due to their customers leaving them, as there was no longer trust in performance and officials of ESCOM.
I wish media would just quote what the current govt wants them to quote.

Eskom chairman Mteto Nyati explained that they partnered with the original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) for maintenance.
The OEMs have deep knowledge and expertise about Eskom’s power plant generation equipment, significantly improving the work quality.
Previously, maintenance was done by people with limited or no understanding of the equipment at the plants.

Translation:
The ANC got sh'tscared ahead of the elections so gave Eskom permission to do its job without ideological/political interference (no rent-seeking intermediaries, suspend BEE/AA, bring back palestalemales who know what they are doing, drop local content, etc. etc) and told the politically-connected crooks mentioned by de Ruyter to take a moratorium on looting/sabotage/sub-standard supplies.

For the average Southafrican, the reforms will be worth it in the shape of GDP & jobs growth, more turnover, etc;
too bad about the nomenklatura and kleptocracy

Quite correct- even for Koeberg, they fly the Frenchmen in from France when things need to be sorted out.

De Ruyter was in the pockets of the green/renewables/net-zero mafia.

The tragedy is that South Africa already took the printed-Dollars from said mafia, in exchange for our coal. We're fscked anyway and I suspect that's part of what sits behind the 35% electricity hike.

Are the Frenchmen here now because our super reliable nuclear Koeberg unit is only outputting 600MW out of its clockwork normal 930MW for the last 4 days:

I don't know, I was just pointing out that they have been here in the past.
Right now Eskom is probably still polishing turds and running those generators hard, until they blow up.
Going for broke this time- setting the stage probably for Stage 8 when all hell breaks loose.
I just speculate because I do not work there
