Eskom starts load shedding

Oh my lord!!! Its just going from worse to worse, last time, they blamed all the rain and storms, now the sun is shining, its a warm day outside. Please...people, dont sneeze in their direction, you might interupt the power supply

Does anyone know how these damned load shedding schedules work? Stage 1, 2, 3 - how do we know which one we're on?

I personally think its a ploy by Eskom to allow them to turn off power anywhere at any time and no one will be any the wiser that is wasn't planned.
 
What idiots. How about we start by loadshedding the houses of all Eskom employees, permanently? TIA. :rolleyes:
 
They'll probably blame global warming, or they are saving electricity for when a huge tsunami strikes us, ala telkom style

No-one can think anything other than incompetence by now surely?

Between eskom and the government I am surprised we have power at all. I guess we should be thankful for that...

Eskom employees and government members should be the first to be loadshedded ;)
 
Hopes its Stage 1, that means I have no power at 2am - which is fine, I R sleeping.
 
One obvious solution that never seems to be advanced is why not raise prices? Specifically start differentiating between peak and off peak pricing etc. Its basic Economics, if the price rises demand will fall and people will switch to substitutes like gas.

What tweaks my n!pples is that I have already turned almost everything off. Me and the wife only switches the geyser on when required, so basically during the day, its only the coolbox running, so what else do they want????

It makes sense if you have x amount of base load generation which is under utilised at certain times and over utilised at other times. If not that then raise prices generally, that's what happens with every other product, why not electricity?
 
Ah, maybe that explains why the power's gone off three times this morning. Or not, since it went down for between 10 minutes to 30 minutes at a time, and Eskom doesn't normally bring it back that quickly. I'd check on the load shedding site, but I can't understand their schedules.
