Eskom starts pre-emptive load shedding

"Pre-emptive" load shedding? WTF?? In other words - to drop power when it is NOT necessary to do so, in order to teach "residential customers to play their part". Is this some kind of Pavlovian conditioning process for us "residential customers"? This paw-paw should change his name to Jacob Moegoe!

But the power meter was mostly in the green and orange zones, now he want to implement loadshedding? :rolleyes:

I'm near the Waterfront in CPT, We've had minimal load shedding here.
Rumor has it, because 'we' are on the Waterfront's grid.

So I'm not too phased to be quite honest.
 
You guys miss the point.

This is nothing to do with usage - it has got to do with Eskom being unable to acquire coal.
They are doing this to "build reserves" - and all because they are too pig-**** thick to do their jobs properly.

Yes I kinda caught that angle from the news bulletin as well. It seems like they are simply doing this to build up their coal reserves.

Lot of sense in that... you have to go without electricity so that we can supply you with more electricity in the future! :confused:
 
What I'd love to know wrt the rationing of power thing is this:

What if I already save a lot of power? If in fact I'm using as little as I can. Based on my historical data, Eskom reckons I use about 350khw/month. So then do they decide that I need to use 200kwh or be cut off?

Which is why Eskom has increased revenue over the last 5 years - they simply stopped paying for additional coal!

Simple scales of economy are clearly too difficult for this bunch of fools. :mad:
 
what a crock of fresh horse manure... uhm.. sorry for the harsh words but that's how I feel... and this could have been avoided. Hope they're not still supplying power to neighboring countries...

Not only ARE they, but they are doing so at below cost - so WE pay for Botswana's power.
 
But take into consideration that Eskom is a business. Botswana and Mozambique actually pays for power, lots of South African areas do not. In addition, if Eskom stops selling power they lose access to Cahora Bassa, which is a nice supply to have in an emergency.
