Eskom talks about stage three load shedding

Hang on, so usually they pump the dams full over the weekend to have pumped storage for the week, yet this past weekend they used the pumped storage and now we have loadshedding? That is utterly retarded, we could have had loadshedding over the weekend and avoided the current situation. Either they are even more incompetent than I thought or they are running an enron scheme.

Which power stations are faulty, and how long do they estimate it will take to get them back to capacity?

I don't think ESKOM management realises that other people intend on working weekdays.

And this is January. One of Koeberg's 900MW generators is scheduled to undergo maintenance next month, and AFAIK it will be out for 8 weeks or so.

I am not a regular Twitter user, but I have looked for an Eskom twitter feed where they would issue load-shed updates, to no avail. Does anyone one know if they bother to use social media to keep users informed, and if so what is their Twitter handle?

It's excuse after excuse, how do you account for so much going so wrong?

Say because of Apartheid, I double dare you motherf***er!

I don't believe them.

I follow @citypowerjhb, their social media guys do a fairly good job at it, although, it would be nicer to get the pdf's of areas going down a a couple of hours prior to outage, but hey, its better than not getting them at all.

for WC https://twitter.com/CityofCTAlerts not sure how accurate or advanced warnings they are, the wc guys would know better

For other area local suppliers, I don't know their handles so you'd have to get it from their sites

why is there an acting ceo when they have recently appointed one?

Can Eskom be honest, they give no preparation to businesses. Yes, UPS and generated power is a solution, but many companies has mobile teams on site. Stage 1 this morning, then Stage 2, now urging Stage 3 which may or may not happen. **** give us the worst case scenario already so that we can apply it appropriately to our schedules. Time to fetch my stone age tools.
