Hi all...

Ja, ja we're all jumping on the EskomSe(MaSe)Push bandwagon.
But did we stop to consider that
during APARTHEID only a SELECT few (mainly whites), had access to ELECTRICTY.

After the ENTIRE country had JOINED the GRID!! There were bound to be challenges.

Look I'm not saying ESKOM's blameless, in 25 years they could have done things better.

All i'm saying is look at things in CONTEXT!!

POWER to the people!!

Mark.

I'll take the bait.

In 1998 Eskom reported its situation to parliament. With the current growth trends of the economy AND factoring in the electrification of homes that previously never had power (ie, disadvantaged areas), they were going to exceed capacity by 2007.

So yes, apartheid never electrified many areas, however the warnings for loadshedding factored in that Eskom was electrifying those that previously never had power. Any way you cut it, loadshedding is the ANC's legacy. A perfectly avoidable and self-inflicted national disaster.

And we haven't even spoken about the rampant corruption and sabotaging going on.

during APARTHEID only a SELECT few (mainly whites), had access to ELECTRICTY.
This is also a lie.
