EskomSe...

Hi all...

Ja, ja we're all jumping on the EskomSe(MaSe)Push bandwagon.
But did we stop to consider that
during APARTHEID only a SELECT few (mainly whites), had access to ELECTRICTY.

After the ENTIRE country had JOINED the GRID!! There were bound to be challenges.

Look I'm not saying ESKOM's blameless, in 25 years they could have done things better.

All i'm saying is look at things in CONTEXT!!

POWER to the people!!

Mark.
Brah, the people joined the grid in 1994.

Value = quality/cost

Calculating the value of your contribution by what is known:
Quality = 0
Cost= 0
Therefore we can calculate the value of your contribution as follows:
Value = 0/0
= 0 error

You have almost NO understanding of the history of Eskom or this country. Just one small example is that Eskom's strategy was (before the ANC took over) to deliver "electrical power to all", regardless of what the government of the time seemed to be promoting. Had Eskom been allowed to continue on that path after 1994, we would NOT be in this predicament that we are in today. So do yourself a favour and get to know the history before commenting.

But they had power? Right? And they paid for that powha?

Now noone has power.

You feel me?

Eskom was created to supply power to the industrialization of South Africa and to take the responsibility of supplying power to all municipalities.

My mother grew up on a farm and they had no Eskom to supply them with power. My father told me they stayed in many houses without power and you had to pay to get connected.

What context is needed when Eskom has had years to make sure that we didn't get to the situation that we are at now. We can't blame apartheid when Eskom and the government had years to make Power to the people a priority.

Edit:
One post wonder, mods should just lock/delete this thread.
Ja, it looks like a deliberate troll attempt

Shame man, it's not his fault. It's all the crap the ANC teaches him.

White people living in the sticks also didn't have power. It's expensive to get connected to the grid.

If the school your kids went to failed absolutely to educate your kids, would you listen to some other parents plea to 'look at things in context'? Nah. You'd be pissed off because what happened 50 years ago at that school (or in the country) doesn't excuse or absolve them in any way for being as reckless as they are with your kids education.

Good grief. Mark has kids?

No, we didn't know that only white people had electricity. It's news to us. Thank you for your service.

during APARTHEID only a SELECT few (mainly whites), had access to ELECTRICTY.

They did? How can it then be that Soweto and many other townships owe electricity debt dating back to the 1970s and even earlier?

The power utility's spokesperson, Dikatso Mothae, declined to share how far back Soweto's debt went and only described it as "historical".

"The debt is growing monthly due to nonpayment, short payments and increase of interest because of the outstanding debt on the individual accounts," she said.

But a source at Eskom told Sowetan that the debt was first passed from the City of Johannesburg to Eskom in 1993 and was written off in 1998.

Edit:

The first step In the massive scheme known as the Greater Soweto Electrification Project - due for completion at the end of 1983 - was taken by the three community councils of Soweto, Dobsonville and Meadowlands/Diepkloof in 1978 when they let it be known that they were not satisfied with the quality of life offered by their townships and were unhappy about the slow rate of improvement.

Thank you @Harold_Crick

Here we go...alt account..

Definitely. It made it onto these threads with the first post without needing to post a requisite number of posts in off topic before being allowed to post here.

Not a very good alt account troll either being caught out on the first post, hey @Smark4997 ?
