Esquire 9800gx2

*cough* that is a pretty good price there.

how many can one connect? can you put 3 of these in tri-sli if you were insane enough to do it ?

nah, wait - even 3 of these won't beat a 4870X2, so there's no point killa.

I had a 9800GX2 for 2 days - imo not a good card - micro stuttering and temps high even with good ventalaions\fans on it - bought a 280gtx

I have a 9800gx2 and it will mow down the 260 something crazy, i am not sure why intensive says what he does but all i know is this card is insane, i bought it for 5.5k not that long ago :(.

Keeper this card was out before the 4870x2 so no 3 in sli won't beat it purely because it only has 512 memory and even if you use 3 cards you still only get 512 meg memory but for 1999 it should crush a 4850 and a 260 for slightly more money.

check out how it beats a 280, once you over 1920 this card fails due tot he memory but 1920 or lower this card is very powerful. It does put out a lot of heat but thats expected for a x2 card i would imagine.

Next question....is this a worthwhile upgrade from a 8800GT? :) and is there any way to set up a tv-out config from the card to some rgb connections? I use the tv-out on my pc a lot for my tv....

Yea most cards can do that, its a massive upgrade from a 8800gt.

Only trouble is obviously the 512 meg ram which is a bit low for high resolution but 1920 and lower it's awesome and for 2k ex vat man that has to be the bargain of the year by a mile.

Yeah if it had a tv out i would of been there by now....is there another cheap way to set up a tv out config from the card? Anyone know?

Dunno, but if it beats a gtx280 I would say yes.

I don't think so but might be wrong. You would a piece of electronics kit to scale the signal down for your TV. What TV do you have?

I've seen the 9800x2 beat a GTX295 in some games because of better drivers as the card is older.

The tv is a 42" rear projection tv. No hdmi input. Only s video and rgb and composite.

Well i have a 550 antec power supply and it runs 9800gx2, q9550 oced to 3.7ghz 4 gb memory so the power consumption is not massive provided you got a good name psu with 550w or more.

Your TV syncs at 15.625kHz for all input signals while the analog RGB (essentially VGA) on the DVI-I (pins c1-c5) provides sync at 31.5kHz+ so you will need a electronic box to do the conversion for you.
