Our previous tenant didn`t renew his lease so we had to look for a new tenant. We posted adverts on social media and the property listing websites. We had an agent contact us regarding the cottage being advertised. He said his client had 2 pit bulls, we immediately informed him that we can't accept them as the yard is very small for such big pets and we are not comfortable having that breed in our yard as we don't even have a dog ourselves. The same agent then called us again 3 days later and said he has a client who has 2 small dogs, we then agreed for them to come view as we didn't mind the 2 small dogs. They came and viewed the place and they liked it, we then signed the lease agreement for them to move in at month-end. When the tenant moved in, we were shocked to find out that they had 2 pit bulls, we were basically duped by both the tenant and the estate agent. My family and I are very uncomfortable as the only pets we own are rabbits and we are scared for theirs and our safety now as we don`t know these dogs. We are unable to enjoy our home now as we had to erect a fence around the cottage to prevent the dogs from wandering into our space and as a result can`t access our washing line and now have to get a new one installed. What can we do in this instance? Can we serve the tenant with an early cancellation letter?
