Police blood spatter expert Lieutenant-Colonel Ian van der Nest testified that the blood was moving in an upward direction on the wall, indicating he was lying on his bed.

"If the person was in an upright position, the blood would have rolled down his stomach to the jeans area. This was not observed," he told the court.

"If the deceased had been in a position of self-defence, his arms would have been in an outward direction."

The instrument used to beat him was swung like a baseball bat at a 90-degree angle.

Farmworkers Chris Mahlangu and a minor are accused of beating and hacking right-wing leader Terre Blanche to death in farmhouse in North West in April last year.

Both have pleaded not guilty to murder, housebreaking and attempted robbery with aggravating circumstances.

Mahlangu claims he acted in self defence. The youngster has denied involvement in the murder.

Diificult to see how they can still plead self defense when the evidence shows that ET was lying on his back and didn't try to protect himself.

IMHO looking at this evidence it's more likely that he was asleep when they attacked him.

Hope they rot in jail.
 
Agreed. The whole self defense story and what the expert says... doesn't compute. And sorry for them.. but the blood don't lie.
 
Ag even if these murdering scumbags are released I'm sure there are already a couple of specially dug holes in the ground with their names on 'em. Can't see how the AWB is going to let this one slide.

It is very possible that the first blow could have knocked him out and he fell on the bed, at which point the attacker continued the attack.

Just because the blood didn't run down his shirt just means he wasn't standing long enough. A solid hit to the head can knock you out without causing you to bleed.
It is possible. I'm just curious as to how an expert can miss that tbh? I didn't hear his testimony so I'm only going on what is said here.

The teenager's lawyer has already asked the blood splatter guy to refrain from commenting beyond his expertise which the guy was apparently doing.

Does self-defense justify murder?

If you are defending yourself, and you manage to knock your assailant out, does that mean you can now go ape-**** on him with a panga? Of does self-defense mean you can now get the frack out of there while you have a chance?

Forensics are so useless that they could not determine the direction of a turd during a dump.

Everything about the "investigation" was so sloppy, not to mention the prosecution witnesses now lying in court, that any reasonable assessor has to find the defendants not guilty.

Perhaps that was the reason for the sloppy work in the first instance?

Twenty years ago the AWB could not manage a case of beers on a Saturday afternoon.

To play the devil's advocate, would anyone be lusting after the suspects blood if this was Malema that was killed and not ET? ET actually has a record of racist physical violence, Malema just sang a song.
