You can almost view UKIP as controlled opposition for the Brexit Party in the same way the EFF is controlled opposition for the ANC.
UKIP has all the troublemakers and mischievers who make as much noise as possible in the media. Then the main party looks normal and moderate.

Incorrect. Both parties with clear message in Brexit won this. So about 37-38% each for hard brexit and remain.
The remaining 20+ odd percent were confused.
Corbyn , after this drubbing has come out with a clearer message than in the last 3 years. A deal on brexit and/or a referendum. No hard brexit
So if you want to be all nitpicky about this, hard Brexit lost. But I would also not agree with that analysis. All that can be taken from this is that the populace is divided. As much can be ascertained from 37% of the voting population

What he means is no "no deal" Brexit. May's deal was hard Brexit, and it's only rabid no deal leavers who painted it as "soft Brexit". Soft Brexit would mean EFTA+EEA/single market.

Yes. But the point is that he wants a "hard" Brexit as much as most of the Conservatives. He just doesn't want to crash out without a proper withdrawal agreement.

A "hard" brexit is a no deal brexit. So wto rules
A "soft" brexit is a negotiated one. That's how I read it.
He doesn't want to just walk away in October like the Brexit party and a lot of the conservatives do.

It seems like they don't know what the European elections are for, or how to count
