Of course there will be some overhead because you need to get the data to and from each individual CPU, which takes some time, but 1/6th? That's a bit shocking...

I wonder if they don't mean 295 000 cores? It'd improve things a bit.

Nope, probably worse than your gaming rig that is if you could even load Crysis on it as it probably runs Linux like most supercomputers.

Probably just a front-end for part of the Conficker Bot-net that they've rented at a low cost. Much easier than building something so big when the resources are available out there. Now we know where they compute our weather forecasts.
