eve-online

Any idea if you can buy Eve Online prepaid vouchers in South Africa

So what type of game is eve? Is it like freelancer or Darkstar 1 where u fly around doing missions and gaining levels and get to choose whether u want to be a bounty hunter etc.? or is it a colony building type game where u got to build your colony from the ground up and invade other solar systems?

its more like freelancer / dark star 1, with an hugely more advanced business/market system driven by in-game players.. The politics are also just as intense as real life and full scale wars involving 100's of ships aint uncommon...

Been playing since April, and what i like about it is that you do not need to devote your whole day to play it.. play an hour here and there and u can still enjoy it.. Skill training happens real time, and you dock your ship at stations where u cant be attacked, so u dont have to watch your back the whole time like in Ogame

I've played it on 3G without issues.

Just realize that EVE has a steep learning curve, if that's not your thing, you won't like EVE.

Personally, I loved it, might go back at a later stage.

Simply put, EVE is what you make of it.

Important to note, you fly your ship by double clicking, not with wasd or joystick. So dont be surprised. There is also a steep learning curve, so do the tutorials ingame.

But with all that said, it is an incredible game with an amazing amount of depth.

I think when I downloaded the client it was 2.4 gigs or so, there is a free trial where you can get 14 days free. If you want there is also a buddy system where I can send you a key that allows 21 days free (must be used to create your account). If you want a key , PM me with your email and Ill send you one.

The game is always under development, the latest plans are a sort of facebook website for your characters. The plan is to make it possible eventually for player out of the game to be in contact with those in the game via chat, voice even cellphones. Pretty amazing stuff. There is also a new expansion that will be released soon.

Also PM me if you are just playing and want contact with a friendly sa player.

There is an afrikaans chat channel ingame as well as a bilingual rsachat channel.

See you in space.

2 things can happen with you on Eve Online.

either you a) keep playing or b) sort of wane out of it because of the whole spreadsheets in space concept.

I dont fully agree with the statement above. Just dont get trapped in the elitist mindset that some players have about how or what you should train.

Rather have fun, enjoy yourself and do whatever you want. Thats what sandbox is about.

If you want to be a scam artist, go for it. If you want to be a miner, go for it. If you want to be a trader, go for it. If you want to be a missioner, pvp'r, rp'er, ninja salvager go for it.

If you want to be a combination of the two, go for it. Dont listen to the elitists.

I am currently a missioner / Miner and I have fun, I may not be as "leet" as a fully focus missoner or miner but I do both well and have fun doing it.

Spreadsheets are so 2006

All the [-]cool kids[/-] successful adults use EFT and EveMon

It is a massive information overload when starting... but as they say, EVE is a game you have to spent at least 3 months on. I've been playing for about 5months in total, and am loving it

Been at it for almost 2 years now. I joined a US player corp, but I have managed to drag in a ton of saffas. The EU TZ now has the majority of players, some from the UK, Israel and ofc South africa.

Also been playing for more than a year now and I still love it!

I am PVP focused and spend ALL my time in 0.0. After a year of PVP'ing I still get an adrenaline rush in battles and I still see myself as "noobish" as there's so many things to know/learn about the game.

Just remember EVE is very unforgiving so make sure you have your clone updated and understand how High Sec, Low Sec and 0.0 work before wandering around in your newly bought ship

Enjoy!
