Ever been emotionally stunned?

Hot Chocolate - wow, that was an unexpected read. I'd imagine the memory of something like that probably stays with you for a lifetime.

Picard - button cam and YouTube the camping weekend. We'll compile a comprehensive report on where lady x's intentions lie. If we get no feedback we'll assume things came right and the problem has gone away. :p

This does feel oddly familiar. Too scared/shy to say anything and the opportunity passes you by. Tough break man.

Think less and take a few more chances. Worst that can happen is the person says no and how bad is that really?

Picard if you love her tell her so... this life is too short...
like Waaib said what's the worst that can happen?

Have you ever been stunned? Shocked maybe?

This is a pathetic story ... from my side ... but this is unfortunately my reality.

There is this girl (you can see where this is going) with whom I've been platonic friends for 2/3 years. I've toyed with, or entertained the notion of something happening between us but I seriously couldn't see it going anywhere (too many things counting against me going into a relationship with a girl) and thus I never took it seriously. Once during a group discussion about relationships we sat next to each other and while continuing to chat about the topic she even directly (as an illustration of her argument about the topic) said that she and I as a couple would never work. Okay. So I never pursued a relationship with her.

Nevertheless, as a man does while single, you sometimes imagine yourself in a relationship. The woman that usually gets manifested in my fantasies is this particular one. But like I said I've never taken it seriously, I have only played with the idea.

Tonight we got together for our usual Thursday evening social. She went and sat next to another guy (also a friend). But that's nothing strange, we are a mixed bunch. However during the evening I saw her starting to lean in his direction ... and I realized "Oh shyte! Here it comes". The leaning became more pronounced and at the end it was a deliberate snuggle in front of our whole group of single men and women.

Now imagine me sitting across from them, stone-faced, twiddling my thumbs, not laughing at some good jokes being told. I am shocked. I feel weak, almost paralyzed. But have no reason to be shocked. I should be happy for them, but I'm not. To make matters worse, I'm sure she picked up my slightly strange behavior (I also excused myself a bit early). And to make matters MUCH worse our group of friends are going camping tomorrow. This is a crap situation and I'm feeling pathetic.

EDIT: There is no connection between this post and my sig. It's a mere coincidence.

Sounds like the plot of every romantic sitcom i`ve seen. now you are going to get a girl to make her jelous, and then it will turn out to be a competition. Then the guy will turn out to be a total douche, and she will come crying to you.
This will happen every season

Have u both been single during the 2/3 years?
I recall u trying to date a Doctor, going on dating sites etc etc during this period.
Where u interested in her then?

Are u in your 30's?

Unfortunately that only happens on tv. In real life, you just never get together and the chance is lost forever.

And to those saying "what's the worst that can happen" - you can lose a friend, which isn't something to risk easily.

Better than dying wondering.

The friendship is already lost! you cant be just friends with a girl you have feelings for. Its unfair towards you, and its unfair towards her boyfriend.

Haha buddy i have one piece of advice for you. While you're having a great time just dancing having fun touch her a$$ gently but firmly. If she's into you it will be all in the name of fun, if shes not you apologise and blame it on the booze.

Promise this will sort out the little issue u have there. No wait i'll give you a money back guarantee i'm serious this WILL work my friend ;) Go get her tiger!

Don't worry i fing hated situations like that because you look like the fool at the end of the day while you are hurt!

The best thing you can do is try to be hApPy for the newly found relationshipPA! in the hopes that she does not notice you are hurt or jealous because out of my experience if she notices she will confront you and if you acknowledge it is usually then discussed with her best friend and maybe with the new boyfriend and this obviously is a negative thing for you

Good luck with the situation

+1

I took the leap and opened myself up. I'd say i'm stunned at the moment. Awaiting a response :(

I'm back from the camping trip. It was great fun. We were nine in all. The hiking up the stream past the waterfalls were stunningly beautiful and grueling. We trekked up the stream till we exited the forest area and came to the grass level up the mountain. Took us 5 hours up and down. I took a tumble on the way down. Nearly broke my arm. Fortunately only ended up with a bruised palm.

Regarding the story of this thread ... They seem to be greatly in love. They haven't so much hid their relationship as much as they just didn't formally anounced it. So that's we we didn't pick it up earlier. And also another friend and I were the last people to find out about it on Thursday night. Granted I haven't attended the last two weeks' gatherings. I had work functions (read socializing with collegues) that I had to attend.

Anyway. It doesn't seem like she knows what anybody (including me) thinks or feels. Not does it look like she cares. Maybe I also don't care. Maybe what I've felt was just a fantasy of wishful thinking. Now that I've been snapped back into reality I see things for what it really is.

It it still weird though to see two friends, who have been just friends for almost two years to suddenly start a relationship. And it's also annoying to a point to see them being all luvvy dovey together. Kissing and cuddling. Ahggg, FFS get a room! There's a saying, "It's not polite to eat infront of hungry people". They obviously haven't heard this.

Lastly, I'm over it. Actually I were never "under" it. It was all just a surprise and I just needed to become use to seeing her in a relationship and accepting that our friendship might have taken a step backwards. Because as the saying goes (maybe this isn't directly applicable to this situation - they aren't married yet ...) "A friend married is a friend lost ... (I've had many of those).

So here are some pics ... (I'm not going to show any pics of my friends, there might be people on this forum that know them - A story of this thread getting back to them and "her" will fck up everything).

Mah car.

Mah green tent.
