Are you using a UPS or go directly into wall?
OKWhy the 20 questions?
The card died in his machine, never seen water, one card works, other is dead. Evetech...
Why people still insist on using them to save a few R 100s are beyond me. I just don't get it![]()
I'm honestly asking
Is there a reason to these questions as to how it would give Evetech a reason to suspect water damage? How do they even see if it's water damage or not? My PC case fans create a negative pressure in the case to avoid Dust coming in, pushes out more air (outwards) than inwards. Total of 4 fans I think. two of which is pushing out the heat being bigger than the other two smaller ones.
I can't control what Evetech does. Their support is not the best and my last return they also came with stories. But there is a chance that OP will continue having problems if there are other issues.
1. If there is an aircon or water cooler, it could have caused water damage.
2. Electricity supply is inconsistent, surges and under voltage or whatever can damage the hardware. Using a UPS that can handle the system will solve that problem and avoid future issues.
Are my questions still allowed?
You can post whatever you want? I have zero issues with it. It's the line of questioning which seems to side with Evetech. The OP stated there was no water near his PC case. I'm sure he knows better than any of us
Would moisture from an aircon cause water damage though? (Again honest question) how does my negative pressure affect this scenario.
No. There is a pipe that drains to the outside. Sometimes it gets blocked and the water will drip when you don't notice it. The reason why you never put electronics under an aircon.
I learned the stupid hard way. I still have an aircon above my one PC as there is nowhere else to put it. But I open and clean it regularly and make sure the drain pipe is not blocked. Still need to find another spot for it.Cool.
We have these Mist fans all through the house, 4 in total I think. Always wondered if they would mess with electronics. Never had a days' problem. Didn't know about the aircon thing, thanks!
So sorry to hear that OP and I would definitely contact the Ombuds. I have sent back two PSU's that died and they did not complain nor have issues with me. I sent them physically myself so maybe go there if you in JHB/PTA and find out why they say water damage.
This is the thing. I can't see why Evetech would spin a story as the warranty lies with the supplier. The supplier probably tested and inspected the card and refuse to swap, fix or refund. There is not much Evetch can then do, unless they are willing to make a loss and give OP a new card our of their own pockets, which I doubt they will do.
grey importsThen why didn’t they say that?
Maybe some of their stock doesn’t have the advertised warranty, which is how they keep prices down.
It’s not hard to offer a decent level of customer service.
If it is still under warranty you shouldn't have an issue. You'll just be without a GPU for 30+ days and will have to pay the courier costs there and back yourself, phone them and check up on them after 30 days.seeing this thread on i hope my gpu's dnt die warrantee is with Evetech
The amount of money that thread is costing eve tech must be pretty steep. I talked my brother out of getting his office pcs from them recently. Unfortunately their prices are very good which is why they keep roping in new customers.
Good suppliers normally honor their warranties, I question the quality of their suppliers, good companies take on the risk when suppliers deny such claims. If the product was not tampered with and "died" due to external circumstances how is that then the customer problem if the item is under warranty. Just bad business by them. Not my first run in with evetech, did they at least cover the cost of you sending the card back to them?grey imports
