Evetech Rma

I ordered and paid for a case + 500 watt psu from Evetech. This was in 2017

The case came without a power supply which I only discovered when unpacking. The carton was wet and damaged at the bottom. The courier insisted I sign for it and when I noted the damage on the waybill, he crossed it out. When I complained, he shut the door of the bakkie, jumped in and drove off

The bottom corner of the case was stoved in such that a power supply would not fit

Evetech ignored the missing psu and asked for pictures of the damage, which I sent

3 weeks later, after numerous reminders, I was asked to return the case at my expense. Looking on the price-list now shows the case without a power supply

I did not pursue it further and gave the case to a friend's son

What did you get? I also ordered WIFI Mesh - TP Link Deco M4. I did receive POP Confirmation email from them but I want to know what shipping timeframe we are looking at - no response...

I ordered the M5 3 pack, but have not even received payment accepted. It still shows waiting for payment. And when you ask them, they can’t say when they will update, only that they are very busy. So yes I have no idea

The Glorious dilemma is a special case, and it is hard to blame Evetech in this case unless you have your 6 months implied warranty, where you may invoke the CPA, the manufacturer's warranty will apply.

This is an exclusive agreement between Evetech and Glorious, and Glorious only have a limited production run. Anything more than 6 months is to push through Glorious and I am curious to see their reply.

I am glad I went with the CoolerMaster. The Glorious Fanbois are a bit too much until the moment they have to RMA. Go read the Glorius Reddit threads, support is an issue.

It's not, this is evetech we're talking about and that fee only makes sense if it involves international shipping.

I speak under correction but glorious listed them as a distributor before, I no longer see them listed.

Their exclusive agreement is very much alive.

I couldn't care less what agreement Evetech has with who. Their shipping fees are exorbitant, specially when you want to return an item. When I asked them last time why they are charging me such ridiculous fees they basically said you are welcome to organise your own courier. Pathetic.

How old is the mouse from the date of purchase? If the product is older than six months take it up with the manufacturer, this is how all imports work in this country unless stated otherwise. Glorious isn't locally distributed, they only have an authorised retailer agreement with Evetech.

However, Evetech themselves list a 1-year warranty and by doing so they imply to provide that 1-year warranty, irrelevant whether it states local or international.

Glorious lists a 2-year warranty for mice, subject to:

  • For any product or part that may become defective within 180 days of delivery, we will offer a replacement - 100% free of charge (including return shipping if necessary).
  • If any product or part becomes defective after 180 daysof delivery (while still within the product’s warranty period), we will offer a free replacement, and you will only have to cover the shipping cost.
  • If you are not happy with a replacement, you can also get a store credit.

I don't know the age of the product. I am assuming that Evetech relieved themselves from the responsibility outside of the CPA's governance of the 6 months implied warranty by law. If the product is no older than 1-year I would take it up with the ombudsman and if older than 1-year you are left with the manufactures warranty.

Even Amazon works like this and I don't even use them for RMA anymore. I just contact the manufacturer with my proof of purchase because Amazon is being Amazon.

If a manufacturer, like most who have distribution agreements and or rights here, sells in South Africa they partner with a distribution centre or service centre for activating the manufacturer's warranty and being the single, or multi, point of supply.

Our law only governs the implied warranty, 6-months by law, and Evetech implied on their product page a 1-year warranty. For the actioning of the warranty it should be covered locally by Evetech for 365 days.

Yes, the shipping is expensive, but Evetech isn't by law responsible for the payment of the shipping unless they are explicitly liable to do so or by the terms of the CPA.

Also, vote with your wallet.

lol "you are welcome to organise your own courier" is exactly what i got.

just a update, Glorious has come back to me to replace the cable and ship it for free.

In future i will rather deal directly with the company that made the product.

So Evetech is 100% to blame.

At least they gave you the option.

I am glad he is sorted. I always suggest going through the manufacturer, first, if outside of the 6 months in South Africa. The only company that I have had issues with for RMA is ASUS, from an end-user and resellers experience.

Yes, I will blame Evetech going by Glorious's response, because clearly there is a difference in the analysis of the product in the RMA process. Evetech should have escalated it directly to Glorious than to make shipping of the product their first priority.

I feel that Evetech fully aware of the defect with a small amount of mice that has a issue with the cable could have made an agreement with glorious regarding shipping costs.

I think its fair that both can be blamed but Evetech could have done better with telling me I can use my own courier before getting me upset trying to get me to pay R518 for their shipping first and then tell me hey listen use your own courier then.

Out of interest why the m5? I did weeks of research and there doesn't seem to be much of a difference between m4/m5 (other than the design and 400mbs vs 300 on m4 on 2.4) - m4 is the latest one and 2k cheaper.

Yeah, after a crap load of YouTube vids and measuring the square meters of my house I just decided on the M5 , cause it comes in a 3 pack. My house is about 375 sqm and it’s more than a 100 years old. So the brick work is of course nice and thick (and probably full of lead and asbestos if I know my luck ).

So the router and modem sits in my home office at the one end and then it should be able to give a good signal in the living room (more than two rooms away) and then in the bedrooms (again more than two rooms away).

So that is why I went with the M5. Mostly cause it’s a 3 pack and I can play a bit with where I want to put the pucks (where I can find the best results)

Yeah I went for the m4 3 pack which has the same coverage as m5 but 2k cheaper (slower speeds on 2.4 though)

Originally I thought about going with google wifi or nest (in hindsight, with this pathetic service from evetech, I should have ). But zeekonline upped the nest prices over the weekend by almost R500 (and I have no need for google assistant ). So I decided on tp link. But imma stop hijacking this thread now. Back to the original programming
