I've been trying to setup evo. mail with telkomsa.net. I previously managed to import gmail to evo. but not use evo. to send and receive. I must have the settings wrong. I've tried many different configurations. pls help!

"NOT" SOLVED!! Somehow!? Downloaded updates and mail working!(not receiving!) THANKS ALL! Still don't know what was(is) wrong though!? So, thought it was all good, not so! The evolution is sending happily, but not receiving. It needs to be the same default email address as I have on a notebook here running windows xp with outlook express?! conflicts? what to do, what to try?

It would help a lot if you are more detailed in your post.

* Is Telkom your ISP?
* Give us the settings you are currently using pop, smtp and ports used
* What have you tried?

Evolution is a straight forward as you get, Edit -> Preferences -> Mail Account -> Add
The wizard that then follows makes it a breeze, just make sure of your spelling.

First -> Enter your personal info and correct email address.

Second -> Choose "POP" and fill in the POP details as you received them from your ISP
Server: pop3.telkomsa.net
Username: Your email username, EVO will automatically insert the email as your username, but if you use telkom then your username will differ, make sure you get it right!
Tick the bottom "Remember Password" and leave the rest

Thirdly -> Make as you wish with the receive options

Fourthly -> Next choose SMTP and fill in the detail as per ISP suggestion
Server: smtp.telkomsa.net
No encryption
Authentication is PLAIN and your username will allready be inserted, if it is wrong (like in the pop settings) then insert the correct username, tick the "Remember Password"

Fithly -> Account name and your done

I must be in a very good mood today!
:p

I've had no problems getting my mail to download to evolution.

evo a lot easier and less painful to setup than outlook...

evolution still problem

"Thank you all. I downloaded some updates today and the mail is functioning, though still don't know what was wrong!"
NOT WORKING! I thought it was all ok, but no! The mail is sent but not received.
[email protected]
smtp.saix.net
port(outgoing) 25?
port(incoming) 110
