Hey

We phoned Telkom around the 16th to let them know that we will be moving to a new house. They wanted to come and do the transfer of the line and ADSL the following day.

We told them we need the line until the last day we are actually at the other house. Telkom asked when we will be moving and we said Sat (26th) morning. Telkom said fine. They will come move the line on Friday the 25th.

2PM on Friday the line was disconnected and transferred to the new place with ADSL fully active. No hassles of any sorts.

Well done Telkom!

Thanks for sharing Mr G - Telkom does seem to get it right more often now than previously...

you shor you on the same planet as the rest of us?

I think they did it because they secretly knew you would report their bad service on the forums!

Just kidding - congratulations on getting it sorted ^^

I am so happy that somebody has luck with Telkom.

5 of our lines at the office along with the one that has DSL on it have been down since the 17th. Nobody from Telkom ever came, even though we reported it daily. They even lied at some stage that technician was here, and that there was a problem with our internal wiring.

The stories we got over the last 10 days range from wet cables to our wiring being faulty to stolen cables to them installing new cables last week to them installing new cables in 2 days (weather permiting)...

An hour ago we had a storm.

All the lines are now down - 12 in total.

How many lines does one have to have in order to qualify for a visit by a Telkom technician?

I don't know if I should laugh or cry.

The situation is just hysterical.

:)

I'll be the first to admit it, but in terms of service, Telkom are getting it right more often than not.

About a month ago, I had a fault on my phone line. Phoned Telkom on a Saturday afternoon, the next day (Sunday), they we're at my house by mid-morning, sorting out the problem.

The one thing I do think Telkom need to perhaps work on, is expanding their call center, particularly the ADSL call center. They need to work on getting the waiting time to speak to an agent down to at least 10min.

I waited about 10 minutes getting through to order ADSL this morning, quite painless and a good sales guy. Now to see how long it takes for them to activate the line, what's the normal time these days with self install?

Telkom said 2-4 weeks, which might include the 7 days that you get for the self install part. I've been hearing of lines activated within a few days recently.

Mine took a total of less than 36 hours from the minute I ordered my month 2 month service until I was online, AND so far I've had NO problems with Telkom, so I guess I have to accept some flaming in this thread as well.:D

Let's give credit where credit is due:
I have been waiting too long and paying too much, but I always got good service from Telkom.

My line has already passed the www.telkom.co.za/verifyadsl page, with "Your ADSL Service request has already been processed."
When I first tried this it failed, then passed right afterwards.

Does this actually mean anything?

I haven't even got a chance to get a modem or make it to the Telkom shop. They go too fast. :p

It means when you do get your modem and connect it up your ADSL will be working, they will only start charging you after you connect the first time.

10 minutes in a Telkom call-center queue? What?! You must be trying to order something. Don't expect the same when you have a problem. I wake up at nights, sweating profusely, with that damned "duh duh dee duh. duh duh dee duh, duh, duh, duh. duh duh duh de-de-de dee. TICK. Thank you for holding, all our service consultants are still busy. Please be patient, your call will be answered in about a #$%ING HOUR. dee duh, duh duh dee duh dee duh duh. Thank you for holding...."
3 calls to 0800 375 375 in four days: 186 minutes on HOLD. No Joke.
This music will be playing in hell.
