Is there a open source program for linux with which I can download Exchange mail?
I am planning on installing ubuntu...

awesome,

thanks for the reply, I just wanted to check whether there was a available program,
I will try it out as soon as I am off contract and back at the office....

Please note that it does not work for Exchange 2007.... Mine stopped working as soon as IT upgraded exchange.

ALso evolution is a horrible mail client to use.In the end how I got it working was to install wine with outlook 2003.

And to this day there has not been any plugin for Evolution that can access Exchange. Have been having this problem for a long time now.

It's really not fair for M$ to be forced to disclose that type of information, but I suppose it's for the greater good :D

Microsoft released a hell of a lot of documentation last year because of the EU decision, so developers finally got what they needed to start writing plug ins and competing apps that will work well with Windows.

Exchange is one of Microsoft's big baby's, but they released a ton of info.

You could also download mail via POP3 or IMAP4 from Exchange, though you lose some of those features that MAPI provides.

I use thunderbird to connect to Exchange via IMAP ... download my mail to my local folders and work like that ... Lightning takes care of meeting requests, and you can setup a LDAP connection for the global address book...

Yeah also went the wine with seemless integration mode. Works very well, cept XP seems to throw me a BOSD occasionally. Also use this for Visio. And before someone pipes up about an alternative, this because I have to use visio/vsd format, not because I think it's better.
