Does anyone know if you can exchange a router with Telkom for another model?
I've got the Netgear DGN2200m v2 and I'm rather unhappy with it. Even with the latest firmware I found (Telkom version) doesn't really help - Gtalk and other services just randomly disconnect. No issues on my Netgear DG834v3 connected to an ipFire machine via pppoe.
A refund would be great because I'm purchasing an embedded mini PC to build a router from.
Anyone had experience with this? I think there's only 3 routers from Telkom, the cheaper Netgear and the more expensive Billion. None of them run Tomato and anything that doesn't have bridged mode or is heavily modified by Telkom is of no use to me.
If they let me choose a cheaper model, how's the D-Link DSL-2750U? Does anyone know if the firmware is locked by Telkom and can't be upgraded? If I use it, I don't want to have to wait for Telkom to modify the firmware, i want it straight from the vendor. Unless there's an easy way to debrand it.
Otherwise I should probably just keep it as a spare in case I need to call on Telkom for line problems.
