Hello
I know very little about cars.So this is probably a very noobish question
I would just like to know how much extra power does a exhaust free flow system + chip add to your car round about? Is it really worth it? :erm:

Am looking to pump up my car a bit and free flow + chip seems the best place to start but am not sure if it is really worth it.
Thanks.

Depends on the car, chip and exhaust. for the VAG units start at googling "Revotechnic"

Freeflow and chip alone wont help much, but depends on the car as well.
Freeflow, branch, 256 billet cam and chip will work better though

We need to know the car mate...if its a Corsa Lite forget about it, however, if we talking about an M5 V10...did yall see what the newest chip tuning company did to their M5 here in SA? That thing ran 11's! Only exhaust and chip!!!!!!

Well, based on a couple of cars in Kraaifontein, rather add a big wing made out of whatever you have at hand. It gives you tons of extra power :D

Yip depends on the car, I saw a dyno graph on a 135i that gained 25% with a Unichip conversion... Astounding! Turbo cars get much more out of chipping, but then again you lose your warranty! But unichip has a sneaky piggy back system that allows you to unplug the chip and the dealership servicing the car wont know a thing!

If you want to do a freeflow, it does help but not by big amounts. You will need to mod the air intake to let better / colder air into the inlet manifold. This way you will benifit more than just having the free flow (dont forget a branch is also going to help out for this)

Yup - I wouldn't waste money on chipping an NA car. The chip I'm getting for my Volvo takes it from 169kw to 190kw - about 13%.

No :(

Unplanned expenses just keep popping up :'( I was going to do it early January, but council hit me with a huge rates bill for the past 6 months. Then I planned end January, but timgaul persuaded me to rather go to Africa for a holiday :/ So March or April *sigh*

Africa for a holiday??
sorry about thead jack, but untill we find out what OP's car is, we need to keep the thread alive

Kenya ;)

Quite a tropical touristy place, I believe! White beaches, palm tree's etc ...

LOL Enjoy mate I'm sure that trip will be better than a couple of kw's and a new sound...I'm sure of that!

I don't want / need sound ;)

Car has a 10 speaker Dynaudio system with an Alpine amp as standard. But you're right - I'd prefer the experience to the extra KW!

no no no by sound I mean the NEW sound from the exhaust when you chip it...coz with higher boost that fart noise becomes aparent!!!

Volvos don't have the fart noise - luckily!

I want my car to be as silent as possible, with just the whistle as the turbo boost ... hmmmm! I do love the engine sound though!

Ok...did you know Kenya has more uni graduates than SA?
Did you know Kenya's broadbankd capabilities are close/has exceeded that of SA's?
Did you know MTN/other opperators are focussing more and more on Kenya as their NEXT big market than anywhere else in Africa?

LOL...

If you car is normally aspirated, don't expect much from a chip + zorst, maybe 5% more if you're lucky....
To get more power out of a N/A car costs a LOT of money (high compression pistons, more aggressive CAM shafts, all sorts of gas flowing tricks, lightening engine internals etc etc etc)

However on forced induction cars, you have a lot more to play with.
