Big PC price cuts coming as manufacturers look to clear stock — Report

Major PC vendors are preparing for fierce price-cutting competition as stock levels of their inventory at channel distributors remain high, according to industry insiders that spoke to DigiTimes.

DigiTimes previously reported that a senior Acer executive said discounts were coming during the year-end holiday season as one of the ways PC makers are looking to clear excess inventory.

Nah I've been checking GPU prices and they came down by a few thousand maybe a month ago and then slowly started creeping up, my assumption is that the vendors slowly increase prices as demand grows.
But the whole exchange issue could also influence that...

That looks like just a black friday thing, a more accurate pricing structure should appear by the end of next week when all the "specials" lapse. If prices really are on the downward trajectory then the prices now should still be available [if not better] next month.
Nope I've been tracking them and it's about right

Second hand market for GPUs is pumping. Sooo much to choose from. Wonder how retail is going to fight that in SA? I assume just by not buying stock? Funny thing is, all I want is an extra monitor. The one I bought on special last year is on special at the same price this year. So price is flat on certain items (sample of 1). Suppose that's better than more expensive.

Really now, please show us, so I can tell my mate in Cape Town who is constantly pestering me about selling my current one to him
Perhaps your mate just needs to actually look online? Prices have gone from 12k to 8k on a lot of cards.
