Expert opinion needed

My uncle (in CT) just bought a 2010 Jazz the other day, paid R110k, base engine with auto tranny. Kilos were just over the 100k mark IIRC. These are great runners but not too long ago you get something more substantial for R110k! Such how it goes eh

just think of it, K24 Jazz.....

Edit: when I win the lotto, there will be signs

What type of auto gearbox is it, torque converter? How reliable are they?
Automatic Opels tend to use Aisin Seiki (Toyota) conventional torque converter gearboxes. Our Astra H auto is nearing 170.000km now and no issues so far.

Back when it was new, I almost got to 200 in 3rd.

However this thread seems to have gone the way of a Honda with a regional name chosen because it's global name was vagina in Swedish.

Thats pretty much the going rate, that model is the sweet spot, by base engine you mean the 1.4/1.3L?

That’s good news because those gearboxes I’m assuming will be near totally bulletproof.

Yeah, I am a bit concerned that they are "no service needed" components meaning at no service interval do they require an oil change, but last time I pulled the tranny dipstick out the ATF looked good and clean. So I guess being a Toyota part it will last the lifetime of the vehicle.

The opposite is true for my 6sp MT Astra J, it uses a Fiat/Alfa box - oh dear.

There’s no clutch pack to contaminate the oil so they generally don’t need an oil change but I’d do one at every 150,000km, it’s typically very easy and the oil isn’t too expensive.

I can’t recall offhand but I think the 1.3, IIRC Gen 2 had the 1.4 as base & for the next Gen it was the 1.3.
The engine size is actually identical in the 1.3 and 1.4, both are around 1.33L but for some reason the Gen 2 started calling them a 1.3 whereas the Gen 1 called it a 1.4.

But without a shadow of doubt the 1.5 is the one get, its about as perfect a Honda engine as you can get for a Jazz sized vehicle, nippy and pulls for as long as you keep your foot on the floor, decent fuel economy as well.

Unverified Service History + Turbo = Big no-no.

You are looking for a unicorn: Cheap, reliable, fuel efficient. Choose any two out of the three options...
Service history counts for fokol. They will update the book if it's not. It's the actual service book they want when you sell/trade in.

On the turbo, I agree. Unless it's a new car with motor plan, it's a no from me.

Note that he said UNVERIFIED.

A reputable dealership doesn’t simply “update the book” because there are systems that can verify those services otherwise fraud charges will appear.

Nothing wrong with a second hand turbo car, if the services are in order.

What are your thoughts on WeBuyCars' newer Dekra reports? I'm impressed – getting more and more thorough.

Haven’t been on there in ages so not sure if this is sarcasm or legit conversation.

I’m generally the type of person who would buy a second hand car from the brand dealership.

Legit. Take a look at the full reports for A-category vehicles, and ones with roadworthy vouchers included.

The sheer convenience of WBC and fact that they are giving good offers on used vehicles means that there are ever increasing opportunities of finding good cars there.

And not just people getting rid of lemons.

My Q7 was a blind buy from them, and I'm thrilled with it.
