Hi guys,

Our Telephone cables were stolen, and Telkom just said they dont replace cables anymore, so I had no other choice but to opt for wireless.

Telkom said they dont LTE in my area, so I saw the MWEB deal.

I am currently on the 110GB package for R549p/m. Is anyone experience data drain? We are 3 people using WIFI.

Ive calculated our usage on our cellphones to make a decision on the package. In total on our MTN/Vodacom networks we've been using about 12GBs in total. So I thought 110Gb would be more than enough.

By the 10th, it was all gone. There's no-one at home during the day, most days I switch off the router in the morning.

We are not gamers, and we dont have Netflix/Showmax. We dont even steam movies or series. Basically use data for Social Media and occasional Youtube videos.

We do get download speeds of 40Mbsp and Upload speeds of 5.41Mbsp.

I just dont understand how we can go through 110Gb is 10 days.. Is it normal for everyone else?

Please help me make sense of it.

Well depending on what you do, with the increased speed, if you watch youtube for instance you would now be streaming at 4k/HD depending on the video.

If it is only the cellphones being used check the data usage to see what app is eating up your data.

Also change your wifi password on your router.

On most phones there is also a difference when the phone thinks its on mobile data and on wifi

Facebook & Instagram will behave differently like video quality, auto play video etc

Also your phones mostly will not run backups/updates on mobile data automatically, where on wifi it will probably go ahead on its own

110GB in 10 days is high for just social media but not impossible

I am on the exact same package, and I am not experiencing any unknown drain. Lots of youtube, netflix and game downloads, and I have not yet done 55GB.
