Explosion at Yeoville Telkom building

My bet is it's probably Debbie and her antitrust group that had enough of the Telkom scumbags leaking their technology all over the place causing all kinds of mental (and physical) illnesses and thought by blowing **** up they'll be heard...
 
WOW ... I guess they will use this as an excuse to raise tariffs or invent a tax.

Rustum, I mean that poor ventilation (possibly in underground piping, where phone cables are running) of exchange. Swamp (natural) gas with good proportions of oxygen, can make very explosive and easily combustive. IIRC, gas leaks in multi-storey buildings caused leverage of whole sectors. It's just theory. To get that explosion, enough is to make a spark/match light to ignite.
Need pics to see what's really happened...

The transformer was only housed in the Telkom building as it was part of an age old agreement.....the old post office days. I visited the building many years ago, so I know what i am talking about

I'd be very surprised to find that it was an Eskom transformer, squarely in the (Johannesburg) City Power service area . . .

I really hope the people hurt will make it.I just hope telkom doesnt pass the cost of repairs and other costs due to this explosion down on us, the consumers.

If the oil in the oil-cooled transformer vaporises, it very definitely CAN explode like that. See the video I posted earlier. #24

The Fordsburg distribution station was partially destroyed in the late 1980's/early 1990's by a transformer oil explosion. I know it was an oil explosion because I was working for JHB electricity while that station was being recommissioned, and talked about it with folks who were responsible for that infrastructure.

I remember seeing pictures of trucks that were upended on the front page of the Star. Google shows no links to it, unfortunately. Anyone know how to get electronic access to the Star's morgue?
 
Sad as it is that people were injured. My first thought when reading this was "BWHAHA.. Somebody actually finally went and took them out."

Like I said it was a good number of years back, it should now fall under City power.

Oh, I thought you meant a non-combustion explosion/release of **** gases from sewage system, which I thought was an interesting theory. I think someone else mentioned no apparent evidence of combustion/fire/flames

you were correct, telkom confirmed gas leak which was possibly ignited by the transformer caused the explosion
 
Maybe someone can organise the same thing with Neotel.

Who knows, maybe it'll work afterwards, but even that I doubt.

my initial comment was also someone bomb them... wonder why telkom is quiet about it.......
