Hi peeps

Q: Other than regedit , is there a program that can list all your applications in windows (xp in this case) , which you can then select from a list , and export the relevant registry settings in 1 go?

I need to format a pc , copy over 2 apps that customer x doesn't have the install cds for anymore.

Generally you need to run a tool like that before you install. I've seen apps. like Norton that adds keys in the strangest places.

Good luck with that.

You can try windows powershell, there's sure to be something in there to script against.
Otherwise try testing the apps on a virtual PC. Then sell customer x a safe to keep their software locked away.

Better off sourcing the CD's somewhere. The installation also copies files all over the place so the reg keys might now be your only problem.

You can try regmon from MS. It shows in realtime what programs are accessing the registry. With a bit of filtering you should be able to find out what parts of the registry the app is using and then export that bit.
