We use both Xpol 2 and 6 but you will not get get lte-a because the router does not do aggregation with both 2600 and 1800

I thought you meant the xpol2 which is also a lte-a antenna, You only need 1 xpol because they have built-in twin antenna.

Any suggestions for a router which will aggregate these two bands?

Does installing an antenna make a big difference in download and upload speeds.

Don't want to spend money unnecessary only to discover afterwards that an antenna has made no difference..

If someone can share their speed test with and without antenna would be great

We fiited poynting x-pol 6 to B618 router on cellc LTE and makes big difference.

It can if you have poor signal. If you have good signal it can actually limit the router beause as far as I saw the xpol 6 is a 2x2 mimo antenna so yeah you lose the 4x4 mimo if the network supports it.

In response to your post, Its not only the antenna purchase that is important but also the placement of the Antenna, or its installation. It is important to know that 3db in signal strength can mean a 100% improvement on the DB logarithmic Scale. So, in essence, moving an antenna 1 meter from its original location can either improve the signal or lower the signal. Thus, important to keep in mind.

What is also important in assessing your antenna placement is the leve of LTE RSP and the LTE SNR. These figures can be completely different as apposed to the standard RSSI that is received by the radio card. RSSI, may have changed but RSRP and SNR stayed the same. Thus not much improvement in speed or quality of LTE signal, would be noted.

you can look at https://arimas.com/78-rsrp-and-rsrq-measurement-in-lte/ for a difference in terminology

I have a document that shows the differences in antenna position to Signal Strength if you interested and happy to send the link.

PM if anyone wants to see the document.

Regards

Hi guys, I am having some issues with my Telkom LTE-A for the last week or so. Initially I was having a blast with the speeds, getting close to 100Mbps. From about Tuesday last week I noticed a drastic drop in speeds as shown with the attached speed test results. The router did not move. I have tried moving it around the house but the signal seems to have disappeared. Where I normally had 4 out of 5 bars I now barely get 3 bars. I have changed through all the settings I could find to try and improve the speeds. Could it be that I need an antenna or is it something on Telkoms side that I am not aware of? My guess is your router has changed bands. Try force onto the other band

I have tried the 1800mhz and 2300mhz, the 2300 gives unusable speeds where the 1800mhz is what is currently working. On auto it seems to choose the 2300 because the speed is identical. Don't know if there is anything else I can try?

Your tests are all at roughly the same time of day. Maybe test at an off peak time to see if your tower has become overloaded

I have a B618 router (bought second hand) which has a broken reset button and I cannot access the admin web panel, if you connect external antennas does one have to change a setting in the admin panel or does it automatically know these are connected? The router works using the default SSID and password on the sticker, the RAIN reception is poor and speeds are under 5Mbps.

Nope not set to Auto by Default

You can use the band tool to set external or internal but you can do this from the web interface as well both options which you need the password for the router.

Thank you, so I will need to get it fixed ... sigh. I was hoping I could short the terminals to reset it and then use the default passwords, only really need to do that once then will always have access to the panel. Will try again
