External Antenna for Huawei E220

E220 Modem signal strength

Is there any way i can improve my signal strength with the e220 modem, seeing as i can't plug an external antenna into it? I'm using the cable with the 2 plugs on the one end.

Where can I get one of these 'integrated' 5m USB cables?

Can I use any USB cable?

The universal adaptor does not support 3G/HSDPA - it is designed for the 900 and 1800MHz GSM bands. I did see another post from Poynting1 where he mentioned they are trying to design one of these monsters for UMTS (2100MHZ). So if you are using GPRS, then you could give this unit a try, but I would not suggest it if you are hoping to use 3G/HSDPA.

We have suggested that clients use the Universal Adapter that was developed for cellphones with our high gain antenna. The adapter covers the voice and data frequencies but has been optimized for the voice frequencies. We have had clients that use it quite successfully with the Huawei modem.
