This is what they recommend for the E220 Modem
Thanks for the e-mail and interest in our antennas. The Huawei USB Modem does not have a plug or jack for an external antenna. We have had various requests for an external antenna for this modem. We have suggested that clients use the Universal Adapter that was developed for cellphones with our high gain antenna. The adapter covers the voice and data frequencies but has been optimized for the voice frequencies. We have had clients that use it quite successfully with the Huawei modem. You are more than welcome to try it – if it does not work please let us know within 7 days and return the antenna. We will give you a refund (excluding shipping or postage)
The price below includes the VAT but Excludes postage. Should you want to send it with normal post within South Africa it costs +- R40.00. or you can collect from our offices in Centurion.

High gain antenna kit for voice reception. Includes 7 m extension cable, universal cell phone adapter and bracketry to fit it to a 50 mm pole

You hold the adapter onto the USB modem (or stick it with the piece of Valcro supplied). In some cases it improves the speed and reception.
You can now buy this antenna at our on-line shop. Please have a look at

Have a look at the bottom of each page to see what volume discounts apply for orders of 5 and more.
Kind regards

Yes, like I said in the thread I bought this antenna with the universal adaptor. They say that you need to stick the adaptor onto the USB modem, but I have done some tests.
With the modem & adaptor onto each other, I have tested with Vodacom's speed test page : http://speed.vodacom.co.za.
Quite frankly I don't see any difference between the USB modem & uni-adaptor onto each other, OR USB modem at pc & adaptor +- 3m from USB modem. The test speeds were approximately the same.
However, the antenna DID make an improvement to my signal strength from 3 to 4 bars, and download speed was from 700kbps without antenna to 1350kbps + with the antenna mounted.
Nice improvement, but sadly I'm sitting without decent online gaming equipment, because of the BAD LATENCY that HSDPA gives me.
