I am currently on RAIN with my Huawei B525 Router. I must say I get okay speeds and really can't complain about this. Sometimes I am able to get 20Mbps download. But this is not always the case. Now I know the RAIN network is currently under pressure, but I believe I can get maybe more and stable speed if I install a external antenna. My closest tower is +/- 4km away from me, but atleast line of sight. I can see it with the eye as this is quite a huge tower.

My question is if I go this route. Which external antenna should I opt for? Poynting xpol-6-10 or the Ottenna lte-md-11?

My signal results is as follow >

RSRQ: -6dB
RSRP: -99dBm
RSSI: -75dBm
SINR: 13dB

Your SINR is good, and will improve. Your RSRP and RSRQ will improve greatly. However, if you already get good speed when the network is not congested, don't expect more. And obviously, even perfect signal cannot cure congestion on their network.

I have ordered a Poynting today. Will see how things is improved....... Or not :)

Okay, so after installing my Poynting antenna I am getting these results.

RSRQ: -7dB
RSRP: -72dBm
RSSI: -51dBm
SINR: 16dB

So for sure a improvement. Speeds is also now 30Mbps and atleast 10Mbps upload.

Sometimes I am able to get RSRP at - 71dBm not sure if that is better then the 72dBm?

Otherwise I think this is the best I can get...

That's a great signal. -71 is better than -72, but not by much. You should have a very stable link with these stats.

I am also impressed and that is over a 5km range. Doubt I can improve it anymore

How much did you pay for that pol ?

I paid R1299 when it was on special at Takealot. I see they run from time to time a promo on it. Otherwise Gumtree might be a option if you opt for a second hand option.

I’ll see when it goes again on a special i actually need one on which package are you on ?

Geeez I have that one as well but speeds are poor

I get like 45,8 Mbps Download and 9,16 Mbps Upload. But when it is worst @ 18 Mbps Download minimum. I think my area is not so much congested like in the bigger cities, so for now I am enjoying it :)

Lucky you buddy .. I get less than a megabyte that’s about it but my uploads are good get like 10 megabytes

I was gifted an Xpol-2. I'd like to use it on a Rain 5g Huawei (LTE CPE B818-2634G Cat19) router. I have 2 SMA to ts9 pigtail adapters. How does one know which way around the cable gets plugged in? Does it matter?
