Hi all,

I've been with iBurst for over 5 year now and I must say that I am satisfied. I have never have any signal or connection problems and my download speed are on average above 500 KB/s. A week ago I finally decided to install my external antenna in hope that I would get a more stable signal and lower ping so that I could have lag free gaming (Dota 2). After installing the antenna, clear above my roof and with no near obstacles, my internet experience just degraded. Pings went up and download speeds went down.

Can anybody suggest why this is happening.

P.S I have the 1mbps desktop modem which is connected to a netgear router.

Directional (panel) antenna or omni?

You wrote no near obstacles, but do you have clear line of site to the basestation?

Use the eyeBurst software to check whether your modem is attaching to the same basestation indoors and with the external antenna. Also check the load on the basestations.

Finally got around to testing with the eyeBurst software and it turns out that I align to different towers with and without the antenna. Is there anyway to force alignment to a specific tower??

how do you get 500KB/s - i.e 4mbps with a 1mbps modem?? also iburst only goes up to 2mbps!

Only if you use a directional antenna.
