Accident my hdd got removed from my laptop while it was still active. Now when I plug it back in no light pops up on the hdd and windows doesn't recognise it. I've been to device manager and disk manager and it doesn't pick up. When I plug it in there's a low beep from it for 5 seconds then nothing. This thing cant be dead.

Have you tried looking on google for someone with a similar problem and solution?

Generic external or something like MyBook etc.?

Unfortunately none of the suggestions here will help. :(

The bottom line is that there is important data, and the drive should go to the pros.

Yeah I realise that now, I can't even open it up even if I wanted to.
Unfortunately I'm not in ct so will have to take it to someone here in pe.

There are no professional data recovery companies in PE, and they would likely refer you to SouthBit or elsewhere.

SouthBit are active on the forum and have contributed tremendously, and helped many forumites.

Pop them a mail, they do offer an overnight courier service if you like - service [at] southbit [dot] co [dot] za.

A normal PC repair place won't help?
How much are they generally? Because I think i'm reading their price list wrong.
