Accident my hdd got removed from my laptop while it was still active. Now when I plug it back in no light pops up on the hdd and windows doesn't recognise it. I've been to device manager and disk manager and it doesn't pick up. When I plug it in there's a low beep from it for 5 seconds then nothing. This thing cant be dead.

Please note that you should stop attempting to power the drive on, as it could worsen the situation. Do not attempt any DIY 'solutions', like putting it in a freezer, etc.

It could be a duff USB port on the PC. Need to check that before you send the drive off.

Yeah I realise that now, I can't even open it up even if I wanted to.
Unfortunately I'm not in ct so will have to take it to someone here in pe.

There are no professional data recovery companies in PE, and they would likely refer you to SouthBit or elsewhere.
SouthBit are active on the forum and have contributed tremendously, and helped many forumites.
Pop them a mail, they do offer an overnight courier service if you like - service [at] southbit [dot] co [dot] za.

I'm happy for you. But I can only hope that people who have important data think about it enough not to try DIY methods.
Data recovery companies do not use freezers.
A normal PC repair place won't help?
How much are they generally? Because I think i'm reading their price list wrong.
