Extraterrestrial life

Are we alone in the Universe?

This is always an interesting question, lets take the following 2 planets as example:
  • Trappist 1e, is 40 light years away and 95% similar to earth.
  • Gliese 581g, is only 20 light years away and 94% similar to earth
So, in theory if there was a sufficiently advance civilisation, similar to our own, on either of those 2 planets we should have picked up transmissions of some kind from either.
However, even if we have not, it is not that simple as the civilisation can be either far more advance than us OR much more primitive.
OR maybe we have heard something, but we don't understand it.
Or we could have missed each other by a few billion years...

The other most sentient being that humans have ever met is the neanderthal and this did not end well for them. Humans completely deleted any existence of the neanderthal. What a nice species we are...

Well.... They could be watching the bombing of Hiroshima live.... Thinking about it, they might be seeing the dark ages on earth or maybe even the Dinosaurs if they are far enough away....

Technically we've met aliens already.
We've found bacteria on other planets....its not intelligent alien life, but it is alien life.

Also some scientists theorize that the octopus could be an alien as its genetic makeup so extremely different from every animal species on the planet
Fun fact: if an octopus could learn to properly communicate and transfer knowledge (and lived a bit longer) they are more likely to rule the earth than humans

How Many Life-Bearing Planets Fit Into the Goldilocks Zone?
Thanks to new research using data from the Kepler space telescope, it's estimated that there could be as many as 300 million potentially habitable planets in our galaxy.
The Kepler mission, which officially ceased collecting data in 2018, has identified over 2,800 confirmed exoplanets, with several thousand more candidates waiting to be confirmed

List of potentially habitable exoplanets

If it had not been for an asteriod or whatever it was hitting the Gulf of Mexico 65 million years ago, the dinosaurs would not have become extinct

If not, in that case. would the rise of mammals, to evolve into intelligent homo-sapiens ever have commenced?

The dinosaurs were around for a very long time. They had tiny brains and did not evolve in any way past what we know today as a crocodile. No technical interest or redeeming features at all

The birds are the descendants of dinosaurs. Birds are intelligent, but not much more than Dolphins and Chimpanzees

It is therefore likely that a more advanced civilisation exists elsewhere? If so, are they also looking for "Earth-like" planets and wondering what is going on?

We have been transmitting radio signals for 100 years. How far into our galaxy has that penetrated?

Answer: About 0.001%

I'm No 6 for Yes.
 Imagine that.... Two Trillion Galaxies in the universe, each with 100 Billion stars. Each of those stars with 10 planets... If my zeros are correct, that is 20 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 planets in the universe.... And the gods only made life on earth......

Show me an alien and i'll change my vote.

what if they have been here the whole time, hiding among us, influencing our evolution, and society.
what if they look just like us, speak our languages and bleed just like us.

their technology is so sophisticated they can hide in plain sight, kind of how people hide among animals at a game reserve.
