Do you have the latest version of the Fastlink software installed?

Go to "menu" and then "about". What is the software version?

Software version = host01.11.13.04.04.08, this is the latest as per download, as far as i know.

This is the link used by the data cards for software updates using an xml script – it’s accessed from the data card GUI and the user will not see it unless specifically going to the address.

http://www.mtn.co.za/upgrade_software/

Does that upgrade have any MTN settings in it or is that just a normal software upgrade?

I have the Original Huawei 3G Data Card Management software installed. Looks the same, only difference is that it is blue and is not MTN branded.

It only shows 3G when I'm on a 3G/HSDPA network even though I get HSDPA speeds. Will I be able to upgrade the software?

Ok, tried it. That link doesn't work with the Huawei 3G Data Card Management software.

The link itself doesn't work correct but if you do it via the card when it asks you to click next the you click next it will then check the server for updates and install if there are any

It gives me the following error:

Failed to get version description information from the server.

No problem. I think maybe the update is not compatible with the version of the Huawei 3G Data Card Management software.

I currently have version: HOST01.11.13.01.01.03

The latest version that i have (MTN Data Card) is host01.11.13.04.04.08 - i did update the version through the software and it verified that it was the latest version. I still don't have joy, i am still connecting through a manual dial up and it does not highlight the "Connect" button at all, i cannot use my phone facility either.

Do i need to uninstall the data card software first, before running WinsockxpFix?

Sorry for the late reply. I did not uninstall the data card software when I ran WinsockxpFix. My problem was probably different. I had the grayed out connect button, but I also could not access the internet with a normal dial-up connection. It did connect, and went through the authentication process, but I was unable to access any web sites.

That's the version of the firmware on your datacard, not the version of the software on your PC. To see the software version, select the About option, not the Diagnostics option.
