It still think KERS and DRS are noddy solutions to a problem that shouldn't exist, but the epic nature of 300km races is part of the magic of F1. To change that would be blasphemous. F1's old tracks - Spa, Silverstone, Monza et al - are fantastic. Some of the newer ones are quite good too - Malaysia comes to mind - but many of the 'designed for racing' tracks have been absolute snore-fests.

And here I couldn't agree more... I LOVE the racing at the classic tracks... That Copse, Maggotts, Becketts, Chapel and Stowe combination at Silverstone, Eau Rouge at Spa and the Lesmos at Monza really test the hell out of drivers.

Heck no, sprinkler system FTW :D. Although i only thought about that when f1 was really going through a round and round stage. Little did i know they had a couple tricks up their sleeves to make just about every gp fascinating.

DUDE! High 5 times 5! Myself and my dad talk about this move often, that is how clearly we remeber it! Balls of steel! Bayliss is probably the greatest SBK rider of all time. And he won a MotoGP race.

Sprinklers on the course, awesome idea!!! Kinda like the ones they have for advanced driving courses etc., ie directly in the middle of the track!

Yeah! And they can randomly spray water, oil or maple syrup. And then they can mount guns on the cars! :rolleyes:

No man, don't be rediculous! But they should also do away with the SC. And put Hamilton into the RedBull and make him start from the back of the grid everytime! Imagine all the action and crashes :D:D:D. Also for drivers like him there should be a second car he can get into if he crashes his first one.

Actually, they should should introduce a few joker drivers who's only job it is to spin out other drivers!
 
Haven't the races been close enough though?

Quali that has had a difference, redbull's actual race pace has not been as good as their one lappers :D

Fiddling with the engine maps between quali and the race is a no-go from this race. The limits on the blown diffusers are being introduced later.

Explain a bit more please, can they fiddle with engine maps during the race? Do you mean the setting you qualify with is the setting you must start with?

Valencia clampdown on engine maps

The FIA has written to the teams informing them that they will not be allowed to change engine map settings between qualifying and the race from this weekend's European Grand Prix.

With the ban on off-throttle diffuser blowing coming in to force from the British Grand Prix, the latest clampdown is a further attempt to prevent teams from wasting fuel by maximising performance in qualifying that can't be sustained in the race. As a result, the FIA has written to all of the teams officially informing them that there can be no changes to the engine mapping made between qualifying and the race, with the ruling being implemented with immediate effect.

Engine maps are used like a power boost in qualifying, with teams maximising the pressures from the engine that go through the blown diffuser and generate downforce. This in turn increases the temperatures that the floor of the car is subject to, and needs to be reduced in race trim in order to prevent reliability issues and save fuel.

While the potential impact on pace-setters Red Bull will be closely scrutinised in Valencia, it is expected that the ruling will just reduce the performance of the whole grid in qualifying. Theoretically teams who can run closer to the qualifying map in the race could benefit slightly on Saturday, but there is likely to be little or no effect on race pace.

I don't know exactly how it's being implemented, as the guys have to run leaner at stages during the race to conserve fuel as things stand...
 
That is a bit bizarre, i guess we will have to see how effects redbull and the rest of the field, surely everyone will now be slower so nothing will change?
