Erm... and yet Button has 50% more points than Perez. What season are you watching?

Button has more points. No dispute there. What I said is that Perez is out qualifying and out racing Button in the 2nd half of the season.

It appears that Perez took the first half of the season getting used to the new team and car and the second half of the season showing Button how to drive.

If this Magnusson guy is as good as they say, then he will probably also be outperform Button.

Perez / Button teammate quali battle ends in Perezs favour.
Had McLaren allowed him another season, he would beat Button in Quali and points.

If you remember Button's 2009 Championship winning year, it seemed like he was looking for parking in the second half of the season. My impression is that Button is excellent in a good car but under performs in an average car. Hamilton and Alonso are two drivers that spring to mind that rise above their machinery. I really think Mclaren made a mistake with getting rid of Perez after just one year.

Another Vettel win.....hopefully next year it will be more interesting. I hope Kimi will have a great year with Ferrari. I'm not a Ferrari fan but Kimi is my favourite driver.

I agree with you.

Brilliant performance in Brazil for both McLarens.
Button made up 10 positions and Perez made up 13.
If only there had been more racing like this throughout the season.

I also think Hamiltons penalty (incident with Bottas), was unreasonable

Oh my ****, these podium interviews are more painful to endure than Sasha and the dunces in Supersport's studio.

I prefer the new format - watching the reactions to Vettel and co swearing is priceless...

Having a daft bint conducting the season's final interviews in broken English, off bloody cue cards nogal, is just not right. Although Sky's 60+ minutes of post-race analysis and interviews, and being free of aforementioned Supersport clowns, does help a bit.

I must admit, there were far more interesting things to watch today than the F1. I briefly switched over a few times and saw the usual leaderboard (more or less) and decided to leave it on the cricket and football. This is the first season of being an F1 fan where I've felt truly bored and uninterested...

Had to watch Marky Mark's final race. Will miss the bloke.

Apart from that, yeah, the close to a rather uneventful season. Now we wait to see what the new era of turbo-Roombas will serve up.

Turbos +1
They just need to cut radio to drivers and bring back pit boards and I'll be happy. None of this 'drive slower, your tyres are going to go off soon' nonsense.

McLaren tips Mercedes as 2014 Formula 1 favourite

http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/111743

McLaren boss Martin Whitmarsh believes Mercedes will be the team to beat when Formula 1's new regulations begin in 2014.

The German manufacturer and Ferrari will be the only teams racing with engines of their own design, in a season that will mark the return to V6 turbos following the end of F1's V8 era.

Mercedes was Red Bull's main challenger for most of the 2013 season, the team winning three races on its way to second place in the constructors' championship.

Whitmarsh, whose team will end its Mercedes engine partnership after next season as it switches to Honda, reckons the German carmaker has all the ingredients to take advantage of the rule changes and start 2014 as the strongest outfit.

"Anyone who says at any team, even Red Bull, that they are super confident they are going to win the world championship, you cannot be," Whitmarsh told AUTOSPORT.

"My suspicion is that Mercedes will be strongest.

"I am saying it because I am probably a bit biased, but I also have some reasonable knowledge of the budgets of the three companies.

"I think Mercedes has got a good budget, good facilities and good people. I have no real insight and I think nobody has, but I think I have a slightly better insight than most.

"But if you had an absolutely free choice of which one to go for next year, I would say go for Mercedes-Benz next year."

NEW RULES AN OPPORTUNITY FOR MCLAREN

Martin Whitmarsh

The McLaren boss also reckons the new rules are a good opportunity for his team to getting back to winning after its dismal 2013 season.

"To be honest, do I think we can win next year? Yes," said Whitmarsh.

"Is everything we are doing and everything we are focused on to do that? Yes. So we can do it. Do I know we will? No.

"We like change. I think it is a great opportunity, I see it as an opportunity. It is pretty exciting, very exciting.

"There is always that tingle of what is happening over the winter, but we have really got it this year. When those cars are unveiled, we will all be crawling all over them..."

Double points fro final race of the season is an absolute joke. WTF, that doesn't reward consistency in the least.

They're making a mockery of the points system. May as well go the full US racing series' route and EVERYONE gets points so long as the car is still running.

Points for pole position, points for leading a lap, points for leading the most laps, points for setting the fastest lap, points for scoring points.

Can you imagine the temptation to sabotage someone's race if it comes down to the wire in these circumstances?

Do they think Red Bull is going to dominate again and by giving a team double points will close the gap at the end.

F1 is going further and further to the crapper. I am sure there are really better ways to make the competition even.
