killadoob please stop with the Alonso bashing, it's gone on for 3 pages now and is getting slightly irritating... I'm a die hard Ferrari fan, been one since I was 7 and watched my first race but even I will admit that the Vettel/Newey/Horner combo is one of the greatest the sport has ever seen maybe even THE greatest.

You keep harping on about one comment Alonso said, get over it ffs... Most of the time he just gets in that piece of shyte car and out races people in better cars and does his job. ALL F1 drivers moan about *** cars and rightly so especially considering the current tyre nonsense. Can you imagine how frustrating it is being told when you can and can't race as a racing driver?

Oh yes and Hamilton is a whiny ****.

Certainly no more than Vettel.

I am not a vettel groupie, i am hoping next season to see vettel get a car similar to what hamilton has so we can test how he handles a poor car, hamilton never said he wanted someone else's car. I cannot recall anyone else making a comment like that.

Scot you can't seriously be saying the ferrari is a piece of shyte. I guess those teams with no points might be an option for alonso, he needs to get away from a race winning car and all those podiums, geez why does he drive that piece of shyte ferrari. Silly, i blame his manager for failing to secure a drive at the back of the field this season.

I'm no Massa groupie, but the guy has had one podium all year in the Ferrari and it was 3rd. Definitely something wrong with the car. Alonso is still driving the wheels off that thing. He's just that much further than Massa in the same hardware. I don't think Ferrari could ask for more.

We've seen how Vettel handles a poor car...
BMW Sauber - 14th
Scuderia Torro Rosso - 8th

Ummm you left out a pole for torro and a win why is that if i may ask? Remember he was chasing webber down in a torro as well before he slammed into him :p

And Hamilton? Oh, wait, he never had a bad car. His Merc is above average...

I have no doubt that Hamilton would have done no better than Vettel in a crap car. I think that was exactly my point... go back and read a bit.

Raikkonen to miss final two races of 2013 for back surgery

Kimi Raikkonen will miss the final two rounds of 2013 in the USA and Brazil after electing to undergo back surgery, Lotus have confirmed.

The 34-year-old Finn, who will drive for Ferrari next year, has suffered with back problems throughout the latter part of this season, and was almost forced to sit out September's race in Singapore when the problem flared up.

It is believed that Raikkonen has opted to have surgery now so that his preparations for 2014 are not impacted.

Lotus will make an announcement about Raikkonen's replacement in due course. One possibility is for the team to promote third driver Davide Valsecchi. The 26-year-old Italian won last year's GP2 Series, although he has no prior F1 race experience.

Another option is for Lotus to hand reserve driver Jerome d'Ambrosio the drive. The 27-year-old Belgian has 20 Grand Prix starts to his name and was drafted into Romain Grosjean's car for last year's Italian Grand Prix after the Frenchman was handed a one-race ban.

Massa Signs for Williams! What a good move for him!

Felipe Massa will replace Pastor Maldonado at Williams next year as he joins Valtteri Bottas to complete the team's 2014 driver line-up.

In September it was announced that Massa would lose his Ferrari drive to Kimi Raikkonen next year and his F1 future has been shrouded in uncertainty ever since. After intense speculation over the past few weeks, it has now been confirmed that he will replace Maldonado at Williams, who has been looking for a way out of the British team following a disappointing season.

"Williams is one of the most successful and important teams of all time in Formula One," Massa said. "When I was a kid, I always dreamed about racing for Williams, Ferrari or McLaren and I'm glad to be signing with another icon of the sport following my time at Ferrari. It is also nice to remember that some of the best Brazilian drivers raced for Williams and cemented a strong national link with the team.

"With such a major change of regulations in 2014, I hope my experience will be useful in helping the team in its effort to move on from a difficult period. Since my early days in motor racing, I don't remember seeing so many new rules in a single season and I'm fully prepared to work with everyone at Grove to make sure we find the right direction. I'm highly motivated to start working hard from the very beginning in what is an exciting new challenge in my career."

"We are delighted to be able to confirm our 2014 driver line-up and welcome Felipe into the Williams family," team principal Sir Frank Williams added. "He is an exceptional talent and a real fighter on the race track; he also brings a wealth of experience as we begin a new chapter in our story. Valtteri is a valued member of the team and I'm pleased he was able to demonstrate his talent in tricky conditions in Montréal. There is much more to come from him."

Maldonado's 2014 destination has not yet been confirmed, but at the last race in Abu Dhabi he said he is weighing up a couple of options. Lotus has made clear that it intends to sign Nico Hulkenberg if it can secure the finances to do so, but with a new investment deal not yet confirmed, Maldonado could still be an option.

Maldonado and Massa share the same manager in Nicolas Todt.
