F1 2013 thread

One of the most heart breaking 2 minutes of my f1 life :(, i knew hamilton would go on to be a success but i felt this was massa's one and only chance to come good. Broke my heart when i saw that toyota fk up and let hamilton go. I can even replay the moments leading up to hamilton winning it, i can see hamilton going balls to the wall and the toyota either making a calculated error or an actual one to destroy massa and his family.

That is sport i guess. the only other sporting event i can recall with such drama was man city looking dead and buried for the title and then bam bam champions in stoppage time.

That made 2 of us.
And to see what it meant to him on the podium with the storm in the background.....

On the topic of Massa though, I know it doesn't make complete sense, but everything in this sport is largely money driven.
Ferrari will be paying prime $$ for Alonso, and while Massa may want to challenge Alonso, I think deep down he knows he can't right now. As such, he can bag championship/constructors points for Ferrari, but also be a "saving" to the company, due to a lower salary.

That's my hypothesis anyhow.

I was REALLY happy to see Alonso win though. This year should be fairly close, barring any reliability issues. Ferrari, Lotus, RBR and hints of Mercedes all being good challengers.

I was talking about his first season at Sauber. Even the commentators were say that he looked like he was making corrections while driving in a straight line. My point was how he developed as a driver. When Kimi arrived at Sauber, he looked impressive immediately. Barrichello was the same at Jordan. Alesi was like that at Tyrrell, Schumacher at Jordan, etc. Massa looked bad initially but become a championship contender later. That does not happen too often in F1.

He was error prone and upset a few people with his wild antics in 2002, but he was also 20-years old at the time of his debut. He was generally never more than half a second slower than Heidfled (A man nicknamed ''Quick Nick'') in qualifying trim and he outqualified Heidfeld at both Monaco and Spa, the two tracks considered to be the last true driver's circuits. He picked up 4 points to Heidfeld's 7, so not a bad effort at all for a rookie. I think the fact that he was replacing Kimi Raikkonen had placed an unfairly bright spotlight on him.

In my opinion, Ferrari would not have signed him as their test driver for 2003 if they never saw any value.

I was trawling the net the other day and found this cool calendar that has most of the major motorsport events. Its high resolution and can be printed and used as a wall mounted planner.

Bahrain!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't agree with sport being allow in an apartheid country but there isn't much i can do now but enjoy it.

Come on Kimi this one is yours!!!!!!!!

Very nice Vinodh!
I assume your name has no connection to nirodh, despite sounding similar?

Naa i don't really have a driver i support :D, so i want hamilton, vettel, kimi and alonso all to be chasing the title this year. Perhaps with rosburg and massa in the mix.

I have a feeling your request will come to pass. All the teams mentioned can contend, it just seems to come down to who sets their cars up best for the conditions.

This season has already had my interest higher, as it's not soooo much of a one-horse-race anymore. That would've been a clever pun, but sadly Ferrari weren't the winning team the last few seasons :D

Edit: Well Merc might have a bit of a tougher time. Seems they appear to suffer with tyre degradation.

Merc will struggle, i think your top 3 will be ferrari, redbull lotus if grosjean can pull his shyte together and then merc.

Unles they sort their fuel and tire wear issues. To me it seems merc will struggle, the fast straightish tracks they will do well in quali. Should be a cracking race again though. Hope we got those 6 lap tires again :D.

Come on Kimi. I cant wait for qualifying tomorrow. Gonna be a great weekend for sport. LFC VS Chelski on Sunday..... good good.

Does anyone know what time quali is repeated today, i am not going to make it.
