F1 2013 thread

What a pity if he can't ... Hes sitting in 2nd Overall in the WRC 2.

Considering he almost lost an arm, he is lucky he is even able to drive. So i think he would take no f1 over his current position which isn't bad, he has an arm and the nerves will grow back over time. Could have lost his arm and then yea pretty much ended his motorsport career.

My Opinion on Kubica is that he helped develop the Renault (now Lotus) car to what is when Kimi took over. Kimi is a fantastic driver yes, but Robert was really doing very well. I think he had it in him to push as hard as Kimi does...

Grosjean is also doing well but he just gets so unlucky at times. Has the raw pace and race pace but things seem to go wrong for him, more so than kimi.

Totally agree, he has really impressed me this season. Matured nicely and has some fantastic pace. Unlucky Yes! But nobody is as unlucky as Mark Webber!

(CNN) -- When it comes to deciding where the money goes, the Lotus Formula One team says its main priority is the car -- not the star driver who sits in the cockpit.

Kimi Raikkonen said last week that he decided to leave it and rejoin Ferrari for the 2014 season because Lotus "haven't got my salary."

But the team, owned by Luxembourg-based investment group Genii Capital, has now responded by explaining that it prefers to focus its finances on developing the car, even if it means seeing their driving talent walk away.

Raikkonen has posted Lotus' only victory this year, with himself and the team both fourth in the respective driver and constructor standings.

"Our suppliers and key people who develop the car were our priority -- maybe not Kimi," Lotus team principal Eric Boullier told the official F1 website.

kimi wins races, gets from 14th to third and brings in major points and points = tons of money yet the main ingredient to lotus having so many points is not paid? The owner is an absolute joke. Developing a car without a good driver in the cockpit means you backwards not forward. Look at mclaren.

Its not Ideal, but I get what they were trying say. The money in question not paid yet is his bonus per point he gets. Something like 50K per point! He would not have been able to make those points with an underdeveloped shyte car (so catch 22). And Eric (team boss) said that the same happened last year, but they settled all his pay at the end of the season. So he is being paid, just late. But its in Kimi's right to not agree to those terms. I think he has done them very well and feels he needs more upfront money in the wallet... he's not getting any younger! At Ferrari he will not have to worry about budget & development costs interfering with his pay.

EDIT: Also as I understand, Genii does not use sponsorships ... yet..

My understanding is they have not paid him a cent. His salary isn't being paid and while he is more than likely flush with the cash you live up to your salary most of the time so a year without payment has got to be hurting him.

Silly to get rid of a talented driver and talk about developing a car without someone as experienced and talented. Mclaren is a good example of losing a top driver. Development out the window.

Here's a lap of the Yeongam circuit in Korea from the upcoming F1 2013 game. Commentary is by Anthony Davidson:

I see Hamilton took hottest times in FP1 this morning... And Kimi parked into the wall ... lol (can imagine... "Dont Pay me... hmm, take this!")

Weird GP? It's a bit of a bos-up from almost everyone so far... organisers and marshalls - they took long enough to put out the fire on Webber's car... Charlie Whiting's crew didn't announce the second safety car... Merc not telling Rosberg to release Hamilton and not telling Rosberg to take it easy after his wing failure (that could have ended in disaster for both drivers)... Merc not listening to Hamilton when he wanted his tyres changed... no, this race makes everyone look tired and ready for the season to be over.

Another victory for Vettel

It's just become so routine :(

Not really, it seems like he always win but if you break it down he has had to struggle to where he is now. Last season he got lucky, alonso taken out 3 gp's in a row first corner handed him the title.

I meant his current form. He's dominating at the moment.

Yup, redbull have a car that is good one lap and race stint. It does help redbull to have the talent guiding their car to poles and victories. We really need hamilton in a car that can compete, he is right up there with vettel but his car just isn't good.

"The drivers aren't super important, it is what other people want," said the 37-year-old, whose race was ended when his car burst into flames after being hit by the Force India of Adrian Sutil.

Yea the drivers who earn millions aren't important mark, perhaps go race go karts and earn nothing while someone like ricardo thankfully takes your spot and realizes he is racing for the viewers. F1 only exists because of the audience. Start thinking about us you chop :D.

That's true, but Red Bull look like they miles ahead. The other teams needs to do some serious testing in the winter to get up to par.

Even if the teams all ride redbulls tomorrow, the gap is too big without DNF's. It would be far more interesting if at the very least, Vettel wasn't qualifying beyond 5th... or if he had Webber's troubles this season. The drivers championship this year is stale.
