F1 2022

Their 2020 car was basically a 2019 copy-paste of the Mercedes, so that was always a false dawn.

There are rumours that Lawrence Stroll's management style is a problem and one of the factors that influenced Otmar Szafnauer's decision to leave. Stroll is said to be far too involved in things and things he doesn't know enough about to be making and influencing decisions. Word is he even sits in on technical discussions. Szafnauer called it out as micromanagement before he left.

Under Vijay Mallya, Szafnauer had complete control over the team's operations and in his own words, was allowed to build the team and hire the people he wanted while Vijay enjoyed the show and spectacle of F1. With Lawrence Stroll, it appears to be the complete opposite as he wants to have his finger in every pie.

So AMR's issue appears to be Daddy Stroll making and influencing bad decisions.
Look, as long as he's involved Lance Stroll has a drive. Even in last year's car Seb was beating him. Out-qualified him the majority of the time I suspect.

This is coming, it's just a matter of time.

Not according to the stewards, each crash was partly blamed on both. ;)

Precisely my point, last year started relatively civil as well, and then it went to ****.
Well, there you go...Hamilton & Verstappen partly to blame, so it's disingenuous when you're assuming some form of blame on Verstappen's part for something that hasn't happened.

It's fine, you can calm down, it's just a prediction based on his previous behaviour.

Remind us again @Dave, how many F1 races have you attended?

Then again talking out of your arse is your specialty.

As I said Nakkks, I'm in a position where I easily can, I choose not to because I'm not a virtue signaller who feels they have to show everyone just what a SUPER fan they are.

I was actually offered free tickets to Silverstone some years ago and turned them down.

Then again, being an arse is your speciality.

By the same token, your man Hamilton is going to be crashing into Russell or a McLaren soon too.

Perfectly calm, thanks for the concern. Just trying to work out how far down the Bias Rabbit Hole you went. can't see your feet so you're waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay down there.

Keep up the BS, it's very entertaining

Hamilton was the one giving way most of last year, so going on recent history...., but it's fine, maybe it'll turn out to not be the case, time will tell..

The only BS is yours NaKKKs, you do love your "look at me, LOOOOK AT ME!" signalling both before and when you go to a race don't you?

By the way, free tickets are often a corporate perk for a number of companies for Silverstone, but as you don't know all that much it probably comes as a surprise to you.

Did Ferrari crank up the engine power in Australia while at Imola? https://www.formu1a.uno/ferrari-ha-alzato-la-potenza-del-motore-in-australia-mentre-a-imola/

"... Yet another breakdown in the family between the Milton Keynes and Faenza teams, which is rather worrying from a reliability point of view, hid the real gap that would have been more than 25 seconds, without the safety car and the retirement.

Charles Leclerc and the car from Maranello, in projection, would have trimmed an average gap of 6 and a half tenths per lap from Max and his RB18. Unpredictable on the eve, at least in these terms. A perfect combination. "We were all surprised by our pace", admitted the Monegasque at the end of the race, who expected at least "on paper", entering the weekend, to be behind Red Bull. “It was therefore a nice surprise” , he concluded later. ...

Ferrari: for Australia, an increase in engine performance estimated at 5 HP has been approved
For this reason, two fundamental things were decided between Friday and Saturday . The first: increase the front load to limit the trigger of graining. The most loaded front wing of the two brought to Australia was chosen, the one with the last upper flap straight and not slightly cut. The Albert Park track has not only been revised in the layout but also in the surface; Pirelli itself, through the mouth of the boss Mario Isola, had warned since Friday that the slipdespite the increase in grip, it could have continued even in the race, given the non-high-pressure treatment of the asphalt to eliminate excess bitumen. In fact, the bituminous alloy continues to re-emerge in the newly laid asphalts, removing the adhesion of the cars, the 2022 cars, which intrinsically already suffer from understeer, to be compensated adequately. Ferrari has played the card of the increase in downforce, despite being already set with a less efficient aerodynamic configuration than Red Bull since Friday.

The second is a technical consequence of the first choice, made possible by feedback - positive for now - in terms of reliability of the Power Unit in the first two events. A small increase in power of 5 HP has been approved to counteract the improved efficiency of Red Bull in Australia, which thus manages to generate greater speed on the straight. It is not obvious that this small gain is also used in Imola as Ferrari, with the first unit, is also working a lot on reliability. “We are more interested in finishing the reliability data collection program , at least up to race 5 [Miami]” we were in fact informed, before introducing a more aggressive and above all lasting use of the Italian engine.

The small increase in performance, estimated at just over a tenth of a second, made it possible to fight for the pole position with greater chances, as well as to be able to generate more important speeds to defend against Verstappen in the race. Moreover, he indirectly could have helped Carlos Sainz in the comeback, through a strategy that he would certainly have paid without the Spaniard's mistake.

The engineers agreed with the pilots agreed to produce more porpoising
As an engineer confirmed to us , the hopping in addition to creating physical discomfort, creates an imbalance that can tend to generate more degradation to the rear tires , reducing their stint. In this sense, Ferrari's choice of having left two sets of medium tires, as opposed to Red Bull, is clear. If the degradation had been higher, Leclerc would have done two qualifying runs, however that was not the case.

“I don't know why, but I'm not very sensitive to porpoising ,” Leclerc said after his win. “If you look at it from the outside, it looks bad. However, in the car it doesn't bother me too much, in terms of performance. Only at the entrance to turn 9 ” did he continue, also stating that he could not have gone faster without the rebound . "Of course, it's definitely something we want to eliminate, to avoid bouncing around corners which can be a problem," concluded the Monegasque.

The F1-75 went beyond expectations also in terms of use of the compounds. "We were stronger than we expected ," Leclerc said after the race, who then continued: "We were extremely strong on average especially towards the end of the stint . " The pace was "very strong" and there was very little graining . A phenomenon that had slowed down the Ferrari of last season several times, unable to generate the right grip on the front.

It is quite evident that the aerodynamics of the F1-75 protects and never overheats the tires, especially the rear ones, ultimately it has a wider usage window when it brings them to the right temperature. On the other hand, there were some more difficulties to get into it than the RB18, something we saw with a double preparation lap in qualifying and restarts after the safety car. ..."

i would love to be at old trafford or anfield or any england stadium one day cos thats where the madness is

It's also pretty crap if you want to actually watch the action, it's usually cold and miserable especially if it rains and you're treated like cattle as a normal ticket holder.

Why are their always at least one person every second day wailing about what this thread has become? It's been filled with bickering since forever, without that it would probably be as dead as most of the threads in the motoring section.

Almost 40 years later I can still remember my dad taking me as a young kid to Kyalami. I remember how we arrived the Friday. I can remember the colour of the blanket we strapped with masking tape to the cement seat on the stand to hold our place for the next day.
I remember how either we were allowed to walk through the pits that evening or we slipped in. I remember they let me sit on a huge back wheel of a dark blue F1 car.
I remember how we slept in the back of the Passat that night, but did not sleep much because I was so excited.
I remember our seats was somewhere in the middle of the track, yet I got scared when I heard those engines start without even seeing them and how the sound just got loader and louder as they came closer to where we were sitting.
Memories that I will share with my grandkids one day.

But hey, that's just me. Some "suur drol" will have fond memories of sitting at home playing Sega mega drive with his dad on the tv . Rather than cueing for a kakhuis.
Don't talk kak about the Sega Mega Drive okay?

Well, he has shown to be very overly aggressive in the past when things aren't going his way, I have no doubt that will start coming out again soon. Time will tell, I'm open to being wrong.
LeClerc will be too far ahead of him on the track, for Max to be overly aggressive. Eish these midfield talks are making me sick
