Good for them. Ferrari stuffed up Le Clerc again, and Sainz never got going. FWIW it's kind of true. Checo had his lap time deleted, then reinstated when he'd gone out again and encountered traffic.
50/50 to being right.

That said, the Mercs couldn't catch Verstappen at all, nor could Russell defend against the Ferrari or RBR. They've made progress, but still not as quick.

Happy?

They're not as quick as they can be yes, yet, but Russ did a fine job of keeping the Ferrari's behind him at the start.

Thing is, if it was LEC behind RUS, LEC would have overtaken RUS early on. So mistake #1 for Ferarri, is not having a clear decision on who their NR1 driver is. For some reason they more behind SAI, who knows why when IMHO SAI is a good driver, but not a future WDC where as LEC is.

Mistake #2 is not listening to their drivers. LEC said he was happy on the mediums. He could probably have done a 3 stop strat vs 4 stop doing M -> M -> S by spreading the mediums over more laps then go softs at the end even with the horrible long pit stops ferrari does. There is no reason he could have ended 1st or even 2nd.

Something at the red team must happen, like they need better leadership and then also that has to go down to their strategy team.

Anyways, very happy RBR was able to capitalise on their strat.

For sure, yes. Until the Ferraris and RBR of Verstappen got going. Hell, Max went and 360'd and still passed him again.
That RBR is potent. Ferrari too...when Le Clerc isn't crashing for no reason, or the race engineers aren't making ludicrous calls.

True, there's more to winning a championship than just having the fastest car, which is why everyone constantly saying Ham only won his championships because he hard the fastest car is BS, Ferrari is proving that now.

Also true, I'm hoping that the whole flexi floor thing will even the speeds up a bit.

The owners of F1 want the teams to innovate. When they do, they they try stopping it. They have a budget, so let them use it.

Toto seems to be giving hints for the second half of the season. Possible party mode again? Surely Merc will do something about the deficit. Russell mentioned yesterday that going back to the sidepod car will be actually make them slower so that is out.
Well, they're technically slower at the moment and there's no indication the no-pods are working 100%. Who knows.

I am not convinced the no-pods are the issue. What I do know is, MB clearly had little to no experience with ground-effect cars as can be seen this season. They are still learning, hopefully before the end of the year they will understand the car to be competitive next year.

Plan FH

What's plan FH you may ask? Fail Hard - pun intended ;)

Poor Fernando just got demoted. Should rather have called it a day instead of being second to daddy's boy...
