Alpine to test four contenders for 2023 drive ahead of Singapore Grand Prix: https://racingnews365.com/alpine-to...-for-2023-drive-ahead-of-singapore-grand-prix

"... Alpine will test four candidates for a drive in their Formula 1 team in 2023 at the Hungaroring in the days prior to the Singapore Grand Prix, RacingNews365.com has learned.

The test is part of the ongoing in-season programme using a 2021 Alpine A521, which was originally meant for Oscar Piastri before he rebuked the offer of a race seat, instead deciding that that he would be driving for McLaren in 2023 after Alpine fumbled his contract.

Although an Alpine spokesperson confirmed the test would be held, they were unable to confirm specific dates or driver lineups.

However RacingNews365.com understands the test is scheduled for before the Singapore Grand Prix and would potentially have up to four drivers including Nyck de Vries, Jack Doohan, Colton Herta, and Mick Schumacher.

Although Sebastian Vettel is believed to have had talks about a 2023 drive with Alpine, it has now emerged that he will not test in Hungary.

Nico Hulkenberg has been linked to the test but sources have indicated this to be wide of the mark. ..."

We needed Seb in a competitive car to have stayed. Pity AMR went backwards this year even more!

Concerns about whether Albon will be fit enough for Singapore - after his appendectomy he suffered "respiratory failure" and had to spend the night in ICU... there is still time though so lets see how this plays out

I want him to heal up and get back to health as soon as possible.

On the other hand, I would love for de Vries to have a chance to double PK Latifi, just to hammer the point home.

Surely they would use Aitken instead of De Vries?

They may see it as an opportunity to do a full test.

last time he was called at the last moment, was not fully race fit and had driven a different car in Friday practice.
This time he could have time to push himself in the gym, do a full practice schedule then qualify and race.
If he improves on his performance of last weekend then he is probably in for a seat, if not last weekend may be seen as a one off fluke.

I hope he gets another shot and an offer from a team for 2023.

Should've been a red flag simply because there was recovery machinery on the track. Even more absurd was allowing the lapped cars to overtake right past the tractor. One of the Williams was damn close to hitting it.
That was just Goatifi trying to red flag the race so Max could win.
Contingency plan codename : Tsunodoku

It's still more than two weeks until the next race. He should be back to health by then, unless things go pear shaped again.
