So what should then have happened yesterday?
I reckon they did the right thing yesterday in following the rules. The uproar is silly because the FIA have done the correct thing by following the rules, though it's understandable because it's a shift to how it ended last year and people are still salty about it.

What SHOULD happen is the rules should be revised. Either Red Flag the race and restart from a standing start, or add a lap (but then you have fueling issues) or some other solution. I agree a race should never end under a Safety Car (except maybe in the case of severe weather or something unavoidable like that).

The uproar is only because it is a different result to how it was (incorrectly) done last year. The action was correct in that it followed the rules. The rules need a change.

The booing was stupid yes. I am a RBR/Max fan and would have preferred racing for the final laps instead of how it did finish. Anyways, doesn't matter there will always be fans of whoever drew the short-end of a straw that will be upset and take it further than they should.

I think pretty much everyone would've preferred it that way but alas, tantrums were thrown last year so they stuck to the letter of the law this time. Loved Gasly's honesty though when he said on the post-race show he's glad it ended under the SC as he was on old hards and the guys around him were on newish softs.

lol @ Nyck being lifted out of the cockpit because his arms had given up

I can totally believe it. I know how broken I was after doing 10 laps of kyalami in a road car.
Pulling 5Gs in corners for nearly 2 hours.... that's crazy if you're not used to it.

That's scary. Just imagine a fire on board and he can't help himself because he is not race fit
In such a scenario I am sure adrenaline kicks in and take over, the muscles would work even if they are trying to prevent too much further damage.

Should've been a red flag simply because there was recovery machinery on the track. Even more absurd was allowing the lapped cars to overtake right past the tractor. One of the Williams was damn close to hitting it.

That said, NDV was a champ in yesterday's race. I truly hope he gets a seat for next year.
I think he has done enough this race to prove it. Maybe pull Latifi for the rest of the races and give NdV a decent run.
