I think once you’ve established your absolute dominance and ragdolled the entire field for years, you let your prowess speak for itself, regardless of the number on your car.

For the lesser drivers, you snatch it and keep it close to your chest, secure in the knowledge it won’t be yours for long. Much like Gollum in a damp cave.

I deserved it, says Verstappen

I guess MAX has not decide to start the season on a clean slate.

I was, some what naïvely, hoping that the two of them would put last year behind them and have a good clean fight on the Track this year to prove it.

I think they both deserved it and it is a pity the last race became a coin toss....

Max deserved the title on the balance of his performance throughout the season.

Lewis deserved the title for how he dominated the final race.

You cannot disparage either driver. The decision-making was out of their control and Max took advantage of the situation.

Agree.

Which why in my opinion, they last few laps should have been red flagged. All lapped cars would have been sorted out. Both of them on fresh tires. Would have been a good couple last laps if that happened

While Lulu is a big cry baby today, we can never take away what he did in 2007 and 2008. He was amazing in those first two years.

Seeing him work with George will be interesting. Lewis has never been a good teammate.

Depends on how much of a threat his teammate is.

He had a great relationship with Bottas, however, as we know, the relationship with Alonso was hyper-toxic; Button described his relationship as ''weird'' with Lewis when things got tight between them and then of course we saw how the relationship with Rosberg broke down.

Button is key here as he is seen as one of the ''nice guys'' in F1 and the only person to ever have a problem with him was Jacques Villeneuve and Jacques is a bit of a special character.

So it depends on how much of a threat George becomes and whether Lewis has matured beyond intra-team rivalry

Horner won a bid to tour the Mercedes factory but can't go.

During the awards on Sunday at Grosvenor House in London, a silent auction took place in support of the Grand Prix Trust, a charity which offers support to the F1 community including ex-drivers and employees.

During the night, it was revealed that the leading bid for a four-person factory tour of Mercedes’ factory in Brackley had been claimed by Red Bull F1 boss Horner, who was attending on behalf of the team.

The winning bid eventually tallied in at £4,000, sparking humour on social media as fans considered the prospect of Horner having a snoop around the factory of Red Bull’s championship rival.

However, it has emerged that the terms and conditions of the prize mean that Horner may not be able to take up the offer of the tour. The small print reads: “Please note that employees of other Formula 1 teams are not eligible to take this tour.”

A variety of prizes were on offer via the auction, which along with external donations led to a grand total of £46,752 being raised on the night.
