Red flag

The session has been stopped again, and it looks to be for Vettel stopping in sector three.

Meanwhile Alpine have confirmed that they will not be running for the remainder of the day following Alonso's issue this morning.

This was a hydraulics problem, the team have said in a statement, and repairs will continue on the car, putting them out of the afternoon session.

Session won't be resumed

With just minutes remaining, the session will not be resumed following the red flag.

Artificial wet conditions this afternoon

A reminder that this afternoon's session will begin with the track being sprayed with water to replicate wet conditions.
This is to allow Pirelli to get some feedback on their new 18-inch wet and intermediate tyres ahead of the new season.

Good, they can GFY!

NOW you need to wonder about the Haas colour scheme and use of Uralkali as a sponsor. It's doubltful an American F1 will want to race in the USA with those colours on their car with this war raging.

The Russian Formula 1 Grand Prix has been cancelled as a result of the invasion of Ukraine.

An F1 statement said it had been agreed at a meeting of stakeholders "that it is impossible to hold the Russian Grand Prix in the current circumstances".
It added that F1 was watching the ongoing situation in Ukraine "with sadness and shock and hopes for a swift and peaceful resolution".

The Russian Grand Prix was due to take place on 25 September in Sochi.

Meanwhile, Haas team boss Gunther Steiner has said the future of his driver Nikita Mazepin "needs to resolved".

Steiner said the team had "legal issues to go through" - an apparent hint they are trying to split from Mazepin and the sponsorship money that comes from his father Dmitry Mazepin, a billionaire with close ties to Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Haas removed the decals advertising Mazepin's company from the car before the final day of this week's pre-season test in Barcelona on Friday.

Steiner said the team would work on the situation next week, but insisted that the future of Haas in F1 was not in doubt.

...note that part. No mention of Uralkali, or by association, Mazepin.

What will this afternoon bring?

So we are about to begin the final session of this pre-season test in Barcelona, which, unlike the previous sessions, will be held in wet conditions.
It will be interesting to see whether this affects the running order that we have seen so far.

And we're off!

The green light is on, meaning that this afternoon's test session is officially underway. Ricciardo is amongst the first to head out on track.

Ricciardo running full Wets

Ricciardo has got the full Wet tyres on for his first laps on the artificially dampened track. We'll be seeing a mixture of those and the Intermediates during the afternoon.

Latifi joins Ricciardo

Ricciardo is no longer alone on track, as he has been joined by Latifi. Both are running Intermediates.
Williams opted to split their morning session between Latifi and Albon - will they do the same for this afternoon's running?

Ricciardo has set a lap of 1:42.814, whilst Latifi puts in a 1:53.138.

Hamilton now joins the action, heading out for his first laps in the damp conditions.

Meanwhile Latifi has improved to a 1:44.087.

Steiner guarantees Haas survival despite Uralkali crisis

In news away from the track, Haas team boss Guenther Steiner has allayed fears the team could struggle to survive if they are forced to drop their Uralkali backing.
For now, only the branding has been pulled, not the sponsorship itself.

It's a tricky one. Unfortunate for the businesses involved who have to suck up the government's decisions.
On the other hand, sponsored drivers aren't always good for the sport, particularly when they're promoted ahead of faster ones.

Perez is now heading out on track. The Red Bull driver's running yesterday was limited due to a gearbox problem, so he will be hoping for better today.

As Sainz joins the fray too, the track looks to be drying out given that several cars have now been on circuit.
