It's triple digits for Ricciardo as he hits 100 laps.

Gasly showing some real pace

Boom! Pierre Gasly goes second on the timing tower with a rapid 1.20.030 in his AlphaTauri, sporting Soft tyres.

No livery at all, just plain white it seems.

Haas have announced their car is to run in a plain white livery for the final day of the pre-season track session in Barcelona.

That means the VF-22 will not display the colours or branding of the team’s title sponsor, Uralkali, the Russian company belonging to Haas driver Nikita Mazepin’s father, Dmitry.

The decision comes on the day when Russia invaded neighbouring Ukraine to widespread condemnation.

Since the start of the 2021 Formula 1 season, the Haas cars have had a colour scheme based on the white, blue and red of the Russian national flag, with the front wing displaying the same sequential order.

“Haas F1 Team will present its VF-22 in a plain white livery, minus Uralkali branding, for the third and final day of track running at Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya on Friday February 25,” said the team in a statement.

Well I think I can say I called that one:

"Joking aside Nakita's funding could well dry up with the sanctions and boycotts being proposed as they include all his major sponsor's and his father bank accounts may well be frozen too."

But I am not proud of the fact.
I have never liked the kid but personal feelings aside he deserves to race on talent not politics.

I'm liking the fact that Vettel isn't way off the times set higher up. He's certainly better than Stroll.
While I know it's early days and just testing, it's encouraging. I hope...
He actually surprised me last season, I thought he was past it, looks as though with the pressure of Ferrari off his shoulders he got his mojo back.

When he got the chance to drive at the front he drove well. He's a 4x champ so just proving his pedigree.

That said, I really hope AMR have their act together for this season and can at least push the teams that ended above them in 2021 more.

A change for this afternoon

There will be a bit of a change for this afternoon's session, as the teams will be given the opportunity to test out the Wet and Intermediate tyres.
The track is due to be artificially dampened during the lunch break in preparation. There is also thought to be a chance of drizzle falling later in the morning, so that might help out if it happens.

Alonso stops at Turn 13

It looks like Alonso has come to a halt near Turn 13, with smoke coming from his Alpine. A disappointing turn of events for the Spaniard, who had been putting some solid laps in.

As we saw yesterday with Perez and Red Bull, this issue with the Alpine could put a halt to Alonso's running. There are three hours left in the morning session, so it remains to be seen if the mechanics can get the car back out in time.

Esteban Ocon is set to take over for the afternoon session.

And we're back
With Alonso's stricken car now returned to the pit lane, the green light is on and the session resumes.
Norris, Leclerc, Russell and Mazepin have all headed out on track.

Verstappen goes fastest

Verstappen has gone to the top of the timesheets with a lap of 1:20.683, pushing Alonso back to second. The Spaniard really won't be happy now!
Norris is currently in third, with Leclerc fourth and Vettel fifth.

The action has picked up, with all teams now out on track, obviously barring Alpine.
