The racing had better be good or F1 will have a Major Flop on there hands after all the build up to Miami.
Nah, the American owners will see it as an unmitigated success and put one in another American city while taking off something like Spa, Monaco or Silverstone.
All the while forgetting they have ugly Indy Car racing anyways that the Yanks can fall back onto as they go round...and round...and round...and round.

IndyCar is now run mostly on normal circuits. They only have 5 oval races this season out of 17 races.

LM will see this as a commercial success even if the race is dull as dishwater purely based on the tickets being sold in a short period of time. They were also not cheap

Interesting development that. I happened to tune in while one of these races was on repeat. I was super confused at first.

The shift happened years ago already.

2009 was the last oval-dominated season (10 oval to 7 road/street).

It has steadily become road/street dominated as IndyCar tries to target the international market.

Ah ok...they're still ugly cars though and it's a poor substitute for F1. Although the Yank owners seem to be wanting to make it more like Indy Car.

Making it more like Indy car will never happen. The teams taking would not allow it.

Indycar is a spec series. When the DW12 chassis came out, there were different aero packages developed with the 2 engine manufacturers but that got dropped recently. So all teams will run the same “road course” or oval aero package at a weekend. The teams can only make setup changes

Saw one quote from his interview "The sport has been so lonely.... blah blah..... We need more diversity... blah blah"

Honestly, pick another card from the deck, mate.

If you actually saw the interview and not just cherry picking bits, you would see he was mainly talking about the diversity in the engineering side as well and how he started initiatives to get people who would not be exposed to engineering and F1 to get exposed to science, technology, etc.

Miami doesn't look too bad but those DRS zones will likely spoil things a bit. Looks quick.
