Mercs new upgrades really showing this weekend.

They still have a lot of work to do, RUS still snatching what points he can and HAM following behind.

The results aren't looking any better compared to that at the start. And LEC and VER are still very far ahead.

Results aren't different, but they're closer and faster now. Hamilton wouldn't have made it back to 4th in the car from the last race. I wonder how the race would have gone had he not been involved in that incident.

Unlucky for the best driver of the weekend and cruising for victory.
Worst thing for Ferrari is that they signed the worst driver in F1 for another 2 1/2 years. He cant help his teammate by taking point away from rivals or holding them up, cant help his team in constructors. What a f up

Fair enough, but my point is they still have a long way to go to challenge LEC and VER for a P1

I like how Redbull loved taking a leisurely Lance (stroll) doing pit stops for Perez. Stop strategizing for your full-lipped Dutch lover boy trying to make his daddy proud, let the real racers win.

Yea that's true. Still need to find about 0.8s I think, but it's a lot better overall. Keeps them in the fight for championship points, especially as Perez and Sainz are likely to do something stupid in a race and they can capitalize.

Those two gravel trips could have happened to anyone, I'd hardly put them down to driver error. Gusts like that could have hit anyone.

Would've liked to see Checo and Max fight for the win though. I get why teams make those calls and were I a team principal I'd probably do the same, but as a spectator I want to see the wheel to wheel stuff
Checo is probably miffed but there's not too much he can do about Max being Horner's fav.

Perez calls for Red Bull discussions over Spanish GP team orders

Red Bull boss Christian Horner thinks Sergio Perez will understand the Spanish GP team orders calls when he is presented with race data later on in post-race discussions.

Perez came on the radio after Red Bull’s 1-2 finish at Barcelona to says he wants to talk to them about the way he was told to not fight team-mate Max Verstappen.
The Mexican was leading towards the end of the Spanish GP when he was ordered over the radio not to hold up his pursuing team-mate – who had been switched on to an alternative tyre strategy.
But, having earlier not been given clear air to pass Verstappen and attack George Russell when he had a tyre advantage, he made clear that he felt the subsequent call was "unfair".
While a later switch to softs meant he finished more than 13 seconds behind Verstappen anyway, Perez told his bosses on the team radio after the 1-2 finish that, while happy for the team, he wanted some clarification about events.
"I'm happy for the team, but we need to speak later,” he said.
Perez was pushed on the matter in the post-race television interviews, but was diplomatic about the way that a possible win had got away from him.
“I think it was close,” he said. “But at the end it is a great team result. I'm happy for that.”
Asked about the frustrations he had expressed on the team radio, Perez said: “We were on different tyre strategies at the time. I let Max by in the beginning then I thought at the time I could go by and not lose crucial seconds to make my strategy work. But anyway, it's a good team result.”

Horner thinks, however, that when Perez is able to better understand how the race was shaping up at that stage with the different tyres, that he will accept Red Bull did the right thing.

Horner told Sky Sports: “Our responsibility is to bring the two cars home with as many points as we can, and of course what Checo couldn’t see at the time, which he could see perfectly well now, is that he had such a long stint to do on the medium tyre.
“Max had such a tyre advantage from a team perspective there is just no point in taking that risk with an intermittent DRS, with temperatures raging up and down. So it was absolutely the right thing to do.”

Horner said the team’s call was not based on thinking about the championship, but more on what was realistic considering the tyre life on both cars.
“I think we will discuss it and he [Perez] will see the race plot, and he will see that he had close to 30 laps to do on the tyres, which in the end we needed to pit to make sure we covered Russell.
“In the heat of the moment you can understand it. If he wasn’t pushing those types of things, he isn’t doing his job.”

Only thing is RB did pit Max which also allowed Checo a free run at Russell. The writer Is a bit dishonest with the truth on that point.

Imagine how Ham’s race would have gone had KMag not hit him

Geez, that arsehole had so much space. I missed a lot in this thread as I wasn't on my phone this weekend. My drivers of the day was Rus, Ham and then Per. That other **** didn't deserve first. Sainz has the fastest car up there and is turning into a proper protea.

So much hate

Are you new to F1 from 2015? Have you seen team orders prior to this? Even Bottas was told 2 years ago not to race Hamilton in one of the European races. And that wasn't the first time.

Racing incident, move on.

Anyways, your boy wanted to quit 2 laps after changing tyres remember, but they had to stroke his ego a bit and tell him to continue.
Then it was all "the team this, the team that" when he finished. At least he wasn't moaning about strategy this week. He drove well, but he wanted to quit...let that sink in.

While Max probably didn't deserve 1st due to a DRS wing issue, he won because the Ferrari packed up (along with Zhou's Alfa). What WOULD be interesting is if you had the same view if Verstappen's car had to be retired and Le Clerc won...

Sainz wasn't fast at all. That's a myth. Only fast enough for 4th. Check his pull away when the lights went out and subsequent drop off. Only reason why he passed Hamilton was because both Mercs faced a DNF.
