F1 2022

Monaco needs to be retired as a venue. It's tired, and from a different era of F1. It's a terrible track, the surface is inconsistent, the pit areas are underdeveloped, the barriers on the track are not modular at all, and any crash causes significant delays, as we saw yesterday. There is no real DRS zone potential. It's just a tired old course that's all snazzy because of being in Monaco, but as a racers course, it's dismal. Zero opportunity to pass, or take risks, no shoulders. It's just done.

yeah i have never liked monaco cos the race is boring

i think they need to remove it completely

they should maybe have a invitational race for the rich when they want

Didn't watch much of the race after the red flag, but...

1. Perez deserved this, and has entered the race for the WDC!
2. Ferrari make mistakes that are proving very costly. If it isn't the drivers, then it's the team. This will cost them.
3. Lewis "He Turned Into Me" Hamilton at it again...never had the lead into the first corner, but claimed Gasly turned into him. Like people simply need to move over when the previous all-conquering Merc was in their mirrors.
4. Vettel AGAIN outperforming Stroll. Stroll really isn't anything but a daddy's pay driver is he?
5. Baku should be cool! Hope Hamilton remembers what the buttons on his steering wheel are for /s
I agree with everything except point 3. He did turn into him which is why he got a 5s penalty. If he'd done nothing wrong, there would have been no penalty.
But yea, Monaco sucks, let's rather have Kyalami or Nurburgring.

Hamilton wasn't in front in the corner though, and that's kind of the rule. Like last year when Verstappen was pushed there was all sorts of thought that Verstappen was in front; Hamilton was in front. In that case, Hamilton was in front by a significantly bigger margin than yesterday.
So the rule is applied weirdly. He wasn't alongside him at all, so what then is the correct interpretation?

He was beside him. If he wasn't beside him, how did they make contact? I believe they've amended the rule somewhat to allow for a driver alongside. I'll try fid the regulation.

EDIT: Yea we never saw that incident. Is that the one he got the penalty for? Would be good to see that from Hamilton's angle but yea, that's a mess.

I also wasn't expecting Ocon to get a penalty, in this case Ham knew that this is a kak track where it's almost impossible to overtake, he took a chance and Ocon blocked him. He would've probably done the same in Ocon's shoes. Alonso was a **** though as he held Ham up screwing his team mate. If Ocon could open up a decent lead he might still have been in the points.

Sounds like they're sore losers and trying to do something to make up for the cock-up of a pitstop that Le Clerc went through. Kind of like using a bit of misdirection.
100%. You would think they would shut up and hope everyone forgets about their 'little' blunder. This makes them look even worse.
Poor Charles really. He looked devastated.

I'm not a fan of the track as a racecourse, but it does provide a different challenge to the drivers as opposed to other circuits. The race itself is obviously boring as can be, but I found the quali to be a good watch. I think there's space for a race weekend like this in a calendar of 20+ races.
Could be worse ... Indy 500 comes to mind.

Lewis also living rent free in your head it seems.

Yesterday was quite a long and tedious watch with all the weather delays! Highlight of the race, for me, was the grid walk!! Absolutely epic!!

On the race, was there a single overtake, apart from the opening lap shenanigans?

Driver of the day? Lando?

And yet if you ask any driver to name one track they would want to win at, they would choose this. As a spectator I agree it's boring and comes down to pit strategy, but there's no way they're ever dropping Monaco...

Who cares what a midfielder is moaning about...

I do think that because of the respect and sympathy for his father, the GOAT. Mick Schumacher gets far to little criticism compared to other drivers and maybe he does not belong in F1

Geunther DID say he (Mick) has to improve - he cant keep 'learning'. I was genuinely surprised that last year he was more crash-prone than Nikita and he seems to have continued that into this year

That accident was weird though. He lifted off the accelerator for the corner and the rear snapped around. No word on why.

Oh dude, I don't have to support your guy in F1. That's not how life works! It was an observation. Move on...not everything is a slight for you Hamilton fans. I also stated the rule is unclear, so go read up there.

Justifiably. On a track where overtaking is nigh-on impossible and he had a great lead, his race team lost it for him. I heard the uncensored race mic when they brought him in, sorry told him to stay out, oh **** he's in, and he was not happy.
Both he and the team need to stop making elementary mistakes otherwise RBR will run away with this.

Just another observation, and nothing to trigger anyone here (so settle down if you feel the need to get uppity!), but Verstappen seems a lot more chilled and the racing between the RBRs and Ferraris are fair, while still being close.
Good to see.
